Another visit to the Meson la Mezquita - a local Spanish restaurant.
The restaurant is in a quaint place - by the side of the street and it opens directly up an alley. This is the view down from the alley.
And this is the view up the alley. The last time we were here we sat at the table under the orange tree. But this time, since there were only two of us, we opted for the table outside the restaurant.
This time round, I was determined to be adventurous. I wanted to try something which I have never had before. The first dish was Stuffed Mussels. I don’t know what the mussels were stuff with, but it was delicious. The menu just said home-made stuffed mussels.
The second dish I tried was their meat balls. It wasn't as dry as I expected, but I find it a bit on the salty side, which was to be expected, I guess, since I am always easy on the salt kind of person. They were all right, nothing special.
Roger had the tried and tested Pollo Relleno. It is chicken stuffed with dates, bacon and cheese served in a creamy mushroom sauce with rice. A very nice dish.
Most Spanish restaurants serve a side dish of olive, and bread when we order our food. It was later that we realized the olives were on the house, but they actually charged for the bread.
Anyhow, we had a nice meal. The Meson la Mezquita will always be one of our favourite local restaurants.
