There are quite a few Chinese restaurants in Benalmadena. At last count, there are eight within walking distance. I am sure there are others that I do not know about. Some of them do all right. They are always quite busy when dined with them. But there are a few who were always empty when we happened to pass by them. It is a wonder how they manged to stay afloat.
One thing I noticed about the Chinese restaurants is that their menus are very similar to each other’s – which made me wonder if they are all owned by the same person. Their dishes are common Chinese dishes, nothing exotic, exceptional or outstanding. And I suspect that the taste are geared more for the westerners.
Panda, a Chinese restaurant, is one of those which we are quite happy to re-visit. This is because they have a courtyard and it is quite pleasant to sit out and have your dinner. The courtyard is very popular. Most people prefer to dine out in the courtyard. They are always busy.
Roast duck. The dish looked a bit on the dry side, and not so appealing. But it is actually quite nice. The skin is crispy and the meat is tender. If they could serve some sauce to go with it, it would be perfect.
We tried their sweet and sour fish. Decent but nothing exceptional. And we had some fried rice. As you can see from the pictures, the food is rather plain. Nice enough, but nothing to crow about.
