A lot of things are happening at the same time currently on Steem.
Steem Alliance, worker proposals, lot's of communication from Steemit inc. + the usual developments from third parties.
Keeping up with everything Steem already took a lot of time but now it's become almost a day task just to keep up with all of it. (And that is even without being part of all of it, just keeping up).
Example:
Steemit inc. has been showing up to plenty of radio shows explaining their future plans and vision. As an investor and Steemian I want to know what's being said so I listen to all the shows.
Most of these shows span several hours. I have therefor now become an expert at listening at 1.5x speed and trying to work my way up to 2.0x to save time.
Yesterday @elipowell (The new MD @ Steemit inc.) was on the witness forum being interviewed by @aggroed.
I think so far she been a breath of fresh air in the way she communicates with the community and she done a proper job of introducing herself to us.
But I promised myself to no longer listen to nice words and focus on actions only. So I'm looking forward to those in the future too. But this is a great start! Especially for a first week.
She will be bringing out a business/product roadmap that is coming next week so she doesn't have to answer the same questions al the time on the shows which I understand.
If you don't have time to listen to the show here is a small recap:
How Steemit inc. saved money already:
AWS bills are cut in half.
The Layoffs
Salary pay cuts for all employees.
Out of an expensive lease in Austin (I'm assuming an office).
Programatic selling of STEEM was projected at 20 cents (It's currently trading higher, not really a money saver but it helps).
Advertising income is already coming in.
Future Plans:
Focus on Condenser and they will finally put focus on Community pull requests/plugins already developed for it.
Lowering infrastructure costs. RocksDB top priority.
Signups need to be simplified (I'm not sure how, but that's what she said, I just took note).
Advertising is a focus for them.
Business/product roadmap is coming next week so she doesn't have to answer the same questions al the time.
More focus on being Open Source.
Powerdown Steemit account
It's not her call. Currently no plans to stop it. She can't explain/have a good answer why the board is powering down.
She, herself, would like the powerdown to stop.
