5 Fun Facts About Katrina Ariel

This should be fun! Thanks to @ameliabartlett for nominating me to do this post!

You might already know that I’m into yoga, I love cats (especially big ones), and I’m stoked on Steemit and the potential of the blockchain for the future of the world.

Here are a few things maybe you didn’t know:

1) I was once a biker babe.

Sorry for the blurry photo, it's the only one I have. I graduated high school in full leather, got a motorcycle when I was 18, and rode from Chicago to Sturgis, SD, for the big biker rally there. That's me wearing a bandana instead of a helmet (not something I'd do now). I was young and invincible, and rebellious as f*ck.

I don’t ride motorcycles anymore, though the sound of a Harley still gets me excited. I outgrew my little Honda Rebel and the crew I was hanging with, sold my bike, bought a snowboard and moved to Canada.

2) I went to art school.

I have a BFA in multimedia, with a non-official minor in video. I’ve done some freelance graphic design and had a video business for a while, but for the most part I’ve used my art degree for my own work. Who knew it would come in handy for Steemit? Lol!

My most recent design work was the cover for my book, Wild Horse Heart. Here it is, hanging out with my 12 string.

3) I played harp and cello… but only for two years each.

I played harp when I was young (like 4 years old), and cello in grade 5 and 6. I wish I’d kept up with them, especially cello. I tried renting one and picking it up again, but I didn’t have the time to give to it. One of these years I’ll get a piano, maybe a few lessons, and give that a go.

I wish I had a picture, but I don’t. Instead I’ll drop this video here, of a talented cellist playing a new take on one of my favourite songs:

The Piano Guys: Moonlight

4) I’ve had a lot of fun vehicles.

The BOT (Big Orange Truck) was an old Toyota 4Runner that went anywhere, as long as you didn’t want to get there in a hurry. Yes, that is a custom paint job. Sunkist orange.

I imported a Mitsubishi Delica (a 4x4 van) from Japan, and turned the back into a bed. The steering wheel was on the right hand side, which made a lot of people look twice. I took it on a month-long solo road trip and lived out of it, bathing in creeks and rivers along the way. Went from BC to Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and California. What an epic trip that was. Sorry, I have no idea where the pics of that have gone. shrug

Ah, the Mini. I drove this thing waaaaaayyy too fast. It handled like it was glued to the road. Fun little car. Here we are at Mt. Shasta, in California.

Now I have a tank of an SUV, and I drive like a mom. Lol!

5) I’m in introvert. No, really.

Yes, I’m hugely outgoing on Steemit, bubbly in my comments and happy to say hello on Discord, but I have a lot of introvert tendencies. Most of the time I live in my country home like a hermit, and though I’m not especially shy in some circles, I spook easy. I’m the one at the party hanging out with the cat, or escaping to go for a walk.

I also have a strong dislike of small talk. I’d rather get to the heart of things, have an intelligent discussion, or talk about something meaningful. This is one of the reasons I love Steemit, because I can learn about people’s passions, get a dose of humour, or contemplate deep thoughts, and then continue the discussion.

Did you learn something new about me? What about you? Have you done a #fivefacts post?

I'd like to nominate: @soyrosa, @randomwanderings, and @cooknbake to do posts so we can learn more about them. :)

Thanks for reading!

Peace. @katrina-ariel
