The lotus blossoms are out, and they are beautiful!
They rise out of the funky, muddy water, yet they are clean, pure, beautiful. It is for the reason that the lotus has become such a beloved flower in much of the world, and a feature of many eastern religions: with many a drawing of the Buddha or Ganesha or one of the other Eastern deities sitting peacefully on the flower.
Many Japanese temples and shrines have small ponds that will feature lotuses. During much of the warm weather of the year the ponds are to be avoided due to all the mosquitoes that make it their home. But around July, magic happens!
