Eggs are made as a snack indeed normal. We have enjoyed many variations of it. But what about egg cakes baked with banana leaves?
I was inspired by Thai Street Food 'Khai Pam' serving eggs in a banana leaf mold.
Because I have a lot of banana leaves in my garden, I decided to make Grilled Egg Cakes. I modified the recipe by adding versatile flour.
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 4 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 3 cloves of red onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 2 sticks of spring onion
- pepper to taste
- salt to taste
- Enough water
How to make
- Step 1
Prepare a banana leaf mold first. Shape a banana leaf into a long bowl.
I use a phone to form a printed pattern, then use a stapler to glue the leaves together.
- Step 2
Mix multipurpose flour with enough water, not too runny and not too thick.
Set aside.
- Step 3
Prepare two eggs, then beat.
Then add the chopped onion, chopped spring onion, pepper, salt, then beat again until evenly mixed.
- Step 4
Mix the flour mixture with the egg mixture, stir well.
Then transfer to the banana leaf molds.
- Step 5
Grill egg cake until cooked.
- Step 6
Serve with your favorite sauce.
This snack is quite unique because banana leaves create a characteristic aroma and taste.
For those of you who like cheese, you can also add cheese on this snack.
