Hi my dear Steemit friends🌹
I went to Huizhou (a Southern city of China) last week. We didn't know much about this city, but still didn't search for any recommended restaurants on the Internet because I wanted to explore the city by myself. 🍹Around dinner time we spotted a eye-catching restaurant serving Northeastern Chinese food. Haven't had Northeastern Chinese food for ages, I decided to go in. As soon as I stepped in to the restaurant, I was SURPRISED!!!! 🎉🎊 Wanna know what astonished me? Let's go!!!
The Environment 環境
I was at first attracted by the three-storey building's extraordinary exterior design, especially the brick wall and the lanterns.🏮 After entering the restaurant I realised this is the one of the MOST BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED restaurant I’ve ever seen!❤️ There’s nothing special about its location, and I can tell it's designed to serve only the local residents. However as you scroll down the page you'll be stunned by their incredible dinning environment and interior design. 🌹
The above is a traditional Chinese-styled fisher boat. The fog, the light and the clear water made me wonder if I had entered a fairyland. 🧚♀️ I could tell their "theme season" was autumn, because I could see maple and its leaves everywhere 🍁. The restaurant was full of exquisite decorations. Below you can see some Chinese-styled vases and some of the most famous literature works in the Chinese history 📚.
A meticulous designer won't miss the ceiling - look how AMAZING the ceiling has become with these maple branches and Chinese-styled oil-paper umbrella as decorations!!! ☂️
The restaurant was spacious. Ordinary restaurants usually make full use of it's available spaces to put as many tables and chairs as they can, but it's not the case for this restaurant. It's worth mentioning that most of their seats were in the form of booth!!!! There was ample spaces between booths, and sometimes decorations could be found next to table, such as an oil-paper umbrella. 🎈
I was AMAZED when I walked through the corridor on the 3rd floor. I felt like I had gone back to ancient China!!!!! I could stay here for a whole day just staring at their astounding decorations 😍.
We chose to sit on the top floor where we could enjoy plenty of natural light. ☀️
The plaque says "Drama is like life". Life is like a drama, drama is like life. It was so nice to see this philosophical quoting here. 💬
The lantern-like light was so beautiful that I wanna have one in my home too :))) 🏮💡
Couldn't help to take pictures in such an extraordinary restaurant!!!! 📷
The food 美食
Next to the entrance of the restaurant there were some tables with some ready-made food on them. 🥖 The good thing about this was that we could take a look at the food first and decide whether to order them:)
Let's look what they had on those tables!!! There were sausages, fried dough twists and dried tofu 😍
These were steamed buns, steamed dumplings (bao) and steamed rolls 🍞
Dried beancurd sticks fried bean sprout 🤩
How can I introduce Northeastern Chinese cuisine without mentioning roasted chicken? 🍺
And now let's see what we ordered!!!! As soon as I sat down I was attracted by their delicate tea set. The traditional Chinese-styled ceramics tea set looked wonderful, and the bird seemed about to fly out of the plate. 🐦 What impressed me more was that the colour of the table matched that of the tea set! I could feel how much effort the designer had paid into designing the restaurant. ☺️
This is Liangpi, a noodle-like Chinese dish made from wheat or rice flour. It's served cold, and usually spicy. LOVE IT!!!!! 💛
These is a fried dough twist cut in pieces (yes, that's what you saw on the display table!!). It's fried, therefore having a shiny and golden look. 🔑 I love it too!!!
This squid teppanyaki looks great!!! It tased nice, too (although there were more garlic shoots than squids LOLLL ). 🦑
Here comes the dumplings!!!! 🥟 I believe dumpling is the single most well-know Chinese food around the world. It is one of the most authentic Northeastern Chinese food, therefore I had expected the dumplings served here to be delicious. However, it didn't hold up to expectations. It was kinda cold, and the dumpling skin was a little hard :'(
This is smoked tofu originated in the "You County". 🌶️ It's not actually a Northeastern Chinese cuisine. As its name implies, it originated in the "You County" in the Hunan province. Food originated in this province is famous for its strong taste - spicy and salty. As a girl who LOVES spicy cuisine, I thought this dish could satisfy my lust for spicy food. ❤️🧡However I was wrong. This dish was far less spicy than I expected. Maybe it's because the restaurant is located in a Southern city. Guess what, people in Southern China generally don't prefer spicy food!!!! Yes, China is a HUGE country, and people in EVERY province have their own dinning habits :)) How amazing!! 😆
I LOVE this red bean paste cake too!!! 😌 It's hot, and yummyyyy!!!
And the mutton shashlik!!! ☺️We ate them as soon as they hit the table!!! ;pppp
At last, hand-made tofu with fried bean and meat sauce!!!!! ☀️Hand-made tofu does not taste as firm as the machine-made one, but I like that texture!!!
It was a wonderful experience dinning in such an astonishing restaurant:)) If you wanna enjoy nice Northeastern Chinese food while sitting in an "ancient Chinese Inn", I'll definitely recommend it 😌 Haha I have to go :) Please feel free to tell me what you think, and see you next time!! ❤️
