There is a buzzing sound and the woman moves towards what looks like a telephone attached to the wall by the door.

"Yes?" she says. Her voice is different. To my ears it sounds as if she may be talking to a superior. "Are you sure?" she asks, looking over at me. She looks disappointed. "But he may know *something," she plays with the cord of the telephone while she speaks. "Okay. Yes, of course." She puts the telephone down and I hear her sigh. She walks to the desk and presses a few buttons. A draw slides out and she takes out a bunch of keys.

She approaches me with a smile, that perhaps she intends to be reassuring, but for some reason I find more threatening than the knife.

"You are to be set free," she says, unlocking the chains. "You will be compensated. Your well-being is very important to us. You will be repaired."

Repaired?

She talks as though I am a machine and not a human being.

"You will be taken care of. Your well-being is important to us," she says again.

I stand up, rubbing my wrists. I fear a trap, but she shows me to the door, and it opens at our approach.
