No. 1095.
This was the 1095th time he wrote the note "I love you" and put it into the helium balloon to be released up to the sky.
"It is okay, when it is time for me to go, I will be up there among the clouds watching you. And when it rains, I am showering you with love." These were the words the wife told him 2 weeks before she left him, losing the fight of her prolonged sickness.
He found himself not able to let her go. Her death left him paralysed and demotivated. The pain of lost somehow chained him down. The only thing he was motivated to do was to visit the Party Shop everyday to get one helium balloon.
Even the old lady boss knew him well enough to get him the balloon before he arrived. It must be that particular one with that shade of metallic pink in the shape of love.
"Son, there is much more to life than doing this everyday. I believe your wife wants you to get going. So, try, son. Try. Or else you will regret. Look up to those clouds and find strength, son. Keep looking. I will pray for you. You're a good man," the lady boss once advised him as she pointed to his heart.
The very next day, when he entered the shop again, the lady boss was no where to be seen. He wanted to tell her that he found his strength, somehow, somewhere.
He only saw another lady, scooping at the corner of the love-shape balloon, filling it up with helium. The exact same metallic pink love-shape balloon. She turned around when she noticed there was a customer.
"Where's the boss?" he asked.
"My mum passed away this morning at 3am and she left me a note that I must prepare this balloon for a good man every day. I am waiting for him. Are you the one?" she asked as tears rolling down.
The sweet lady somehow reminded him of his wife. For a moment, his world paused while gazing into her teary bright eyes.
