A sea of red
All brought together
To share in their passion
They walked the streets
An excitement palpable
In the air
They were heading to their home ground
They would surely win today
As they walked
All as one
Another colour
From the opposite direction
started to emerge
The colours were coming closer
Red and blue converging
They each sang
Their songs
They cheered and they jeered
They were coming
closer to the ground
Their teams would
Be going into battle
The battle site already overflowing
The noise was deafening
Each side situated
at opposite ends.
Just like a chess game
The pawns
In place
ready to defend
Ready to go into attack
It was nearly time
The teams filed out
Blue and red gladiators
Walking proudly onto the pitch
