Most likely every FreeWriter who saw the prompt immediately thought of the chat app. I was no different but I wanted to be. So I tried to jog another idea, but I caved in. This after all has become an everyday word for me. An everyday place. An everyday action.
When I first joined Steemit, to find out more I started stalking my introducer, who happens to be a Witness and also a stranger to me. So after explaining a couple of times, he advised me to join Discord. I wasn't sure what to make of it. After all the word meant to be in disagreement. How strange? Was he trying to shake me off?!... haha Finally I downloaded the app, but was unsure how to work it.
My first thought - Terrible!! It was dark, the text small and the strangers on it seemed to be best friends and their chats were going at 150 miles per hour. I would visit ever so often, a silent bystander, reading and trying to catch whatever I could.
I felt there was just too much to do. Tons of channels to explore and these people were simultaneously chatting everywhere. There were rules to follow, flaunt it and risk being banned. So I continued to watch from the sidelines, buying time when one day my tween caught me. "You are on discord?"
Until that day, I thought discord was exclusive to steemit. When my son explained it was a chat app like skype and messenger but for gamers I got a better understanding of it. Started exploring a little more. Tried to say hello here and there. And then one day I had clicked on a suspicious link on one of my posts and found out on Discord to not click on the link. I immediately generated a new password.
After that, I started being a little more active on Discord but obviously not enough. I joined a few more communities and these are families I am proud to be a part of. And I am even helping out a little with the backend with SteemitMamas. So definitely come some way, but still a lot more to go.

This is my submission for the 200 Day Party Challenge where we need to write one freewrite every single day for 50 days. Read other stories inspired by the discord here!!
