I like the blues, even if it's a genre that has had its maximum spread long before I was born.
There is something, however, in the sounds of blues music, which deeply touches my soul.
It's curious that I, Italian, white, born and raised thousands of miles away from the shores of the Mississippi, have a soul so black, musically.
Sorry (not really) for the NSFW cover - this song well represents my point of view on the blues
When I started learning the guitar, the blues was the easiest music to learn. It's all a matter of expression. Technically, even a wimpy player like me can do it: 12 bars, three chords, a fixed structure that can or can not change, turn or close. The pentatonic scale, the intervals of fifth diminished. That's all.
But the expression in playing it makes all the difference!
I have listened a lot to the two "Kings", B.B. and Albert, and then Muddy Waters, Big Mama Thornton, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, the Allman brothers... and then the great British bluesmen: John Mayall, Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, down to the mythical Blues Brothers and all the extraordinary musicians who have included in their films, some of my age like Johnny Lang or (not appearing in the Blues Brothers) the great Derek Trucks!
The time is over! Who cares!
There are also many Italian bluesmen, perhaps not well known abroad but very good, like Tolo Marton, Pino Daniele, Alex Britti and many musicians where I come from, of every age and generation, that almost nobody knows.
The blues will always remain one of my favorite genres, also because it contaminated itself with rock, with jazz, with metal, with classical music, pop, world music (Santana!) ... everywhere I hear blues sounds in the music, for me there is more emotion!
I will never be a musician, I am quite denied in this, but sometimes I like to take dust off the guitar to improvise a round of blues.
This freewrite is also a way with which I can stuff music that I like in Steemit!
Bonus (?): another selfie.
Fortunately for your ears it's not a video
