In 2016 this game came out first, at the time for the PlayStation 4. In terms of content, Dragon Quest Builders on the Nintendo Switch is the same. Yet the game manages to grab me again for the second time. The Nintendo Switch seems almost made for a game like this. It is a game that works best when you play half an hour in sessions of pack bite. And that's a lot nicer with the Nintendo Switch. In a month's time, I've taken the game every day to play a few quests and improve my different villages. These are the five points that describe the game best.
Minecraft with a story
Dragon Quest Builders can best be described as a mix between the stories you experience in the Dragon Quest series in combination with the Minecraft gameplay. This way you can get raw materials by cutting away stones or smashing mud. And by chopping trees, you score wood. You can use these raw materials to make objects and make certain rooms. But where Minecraft leaves you free to do what you want, Dragon Quest Builders has a story where you get assignments every time.

New challenges in Dragon Quest Builders
Because of these assignments there is always something to do and you learn new things. It starts with simple tinkering of a standard weapon and bedroom. But after a few hours you build complete traps and you are fighting with bosses.
Start again in a new chapter
When you have completed everything in a certain area, you discover that the game is divided into a number of chapters. Each chapter lets you start all over again and gives you slightly different possibilities to build things. It is a trick that the developer uses, but it does work.

Wonderful to always catch up
As said before, it is a game that is better on the Nintendo Switch than the PS4. This is because you can also use the console as a handheld. With the Nintendo Switch it is possible to catch Dragon Quest Builders at any time. Just fifteen minutes of building or executing a quest, to put it away again. It is also ideal to play the game on the train. The low pace fits well with that.

Conclusion
Finally, it is a game where you are very happy with. In addition to the extensive main adventure, which occupies you for a while, it is possible to build free in a new world. Although that aspect is less interesting than when you play the story, it is a godsend for the creator to discover what he can build.
