People with a Nintendo Switch may again look forward to many beautiful things. In a new video Nintendo has announced numerous new Nintendo Switch games and DLC. There is a lot to come out in the coming months and that is why here is an overview.
Nintendo has uploaded a new Mini Direct video on its YouTube channel. It is a selection of both first and third-party titles that will be released at the beginning of this year. There are some very surprising things like Dark Souls: Remastered.
The Nintendo Switch games and DLC at a glance
One of the most important announcements we start with and which is only shown at the end of the Mini Direct video is the arrival of Dark Souls: Remastered. The first part of the series, excluding Demon's Souls, appears next to PS4, Xbox One and PC for the Switch. This opens the way for other parts, so who knows what this means! The game will be available from 25 May.
Super Mario Odyssey gets a free update that adds new content. In Luigi's Balloon World you get two game modes: Hide It and Find It. Do you know the game worlds well, then that comes in handy! As the name implies, in Hide It you have to hide a balloon for other players, while you have to search for balloons that others have hidden in Find It.
The Italian with the red cap has more in store, because in Mario Tennis Aces he picks up his tennis racket. The game gets a story mode with a large number of missions and bosses. It is the first time since Game Boy Advance game Mario Tennis that there is again a story mode present.
Zelda and friends also return to the Switch in Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition. This game is scheduled for next spring , but an exact date is still missing. The Definitive Edition has a single player and local split screen for two players. In addition to many other new content, Zelda and Link now have an extra outfit based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Another familiar Nintendo face that returns is that of Donkey Kong. The gorilla gets its own Switch version of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, the game released in 2014 for WiiU. In it you also meet Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong and Cranky Kong. On May 4 the game for the Switch will appear.
Donkey Kong's role is not limited to Tropical Freeze, because he also appears as a new character in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle as part of DLC Pack 3. In the spring the new content comes out, which includes a new world.
The pink Kirby has also been shown in the Mini Direct video during a trailer of Kirby Star Allies. 16 March, the 2D platform game has to be released, in which you can go through levels with up to four players and join forces. Literally, because by combining them your attacks become even stronger.
Even though we do not know exactly when, it is now clear that The World Ends with You Final Remix is coming out this year. The remake of the original Nintendo DS game, which is more than ten years old, comes to the Switch and contains an extra piece of story, new characters and a new control.
Pokkén Tournament DX gets new content on January 31st. Players can get started with new Battle Pokémon Aegislash and Support Pokémon Mega Rayquaza and Mimikyu in the first of two Battle Packs. Your avatar can also be expanded with new outfits, options and titles.
On the Nintendo Switch are more and more action games, but Nintendo announced that action-RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa or DANA comes to the handheld. The game will be available this summer. Another action game that comes to Switch is Payday 2, on February 27th. For this version special touchscreen controls and a new character with LED mask and hack skills named Joy have been added.
There is also room for indie games, because Switch releases have been announced for Fe and Celeste. In the beautifully designed game Fe you explore nature. The first EA Originals title will be released for Switch on February 16th. The side-scroller Celeste has a very different visual style because of the pixel art and will be released this month, on January 25th.
