Good Friday, everyone!
In my first post, I told you that you'll find on my blog articles/posts on health and food. Lately, I wrote for you more recipes than health articles, but here I come! From now on, I'll share with you all the great infos about health I read in this book "Intelligent Eating", written by Dr. Emil Radulescu, who is a romanian doctor specialized in internal diseases. He wrote a couple of books on nutrition and health, but I didn't read all of his books yet.
This book "Intelligent Eating" is full of facts, knowledge and science information regarding human's health. I've read and I'm still reading lots of nutrition books (cause this is the job of a nutritionist right?) but I really like this one. I found these infos relevant for learning and thats why I wanted to share them with you, all steemians interested in health topics.
so What is health exactly?
Without a doubt, we have to mention the most respectable definition of health, given by The World Health Organization (WHO): "Health is a state of complete PHYSICAL, MENTAL, and SOCIAL well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."
- Physical health means absence of the disease
- Mental health refers to the absence of mental disorders, but also to the ability to resolve the demands of life, social relationships, emotional or behavioral problems.
- Social health refers to the ability to communicate with people and creating satisfactory relationships.
Health is not something you can possess, but one process; it's a way to be.
According to Dr. Roland Grossarth Maticek, Director of Institute of Preventive Medicine, University of the Nations United in Heidelberg, Germany, he believes that health or illness is the result of the interactions of a very complex systems with a large number of factors:
- Good genetic heritage (that means that parents did not die of chronic illness before the age of 55 years).
- Healthy nutrition
- Regular physical activity.
- Avoiding smoking and alcohol dependence or others drugs.
- Good social integration.
- Good and restful sleep
- Occupation which allows its own initiative.
- A strong will to live.
- Possibility to exercise your own will.
- Feeling of well-being and enjoyment of life.
- Possibility to meet the important requirements of life.
- A spontaneous and positive relationship to God.
- Sense of competence.
- Possibility of self-care.
- Trusted, optimistic attitude.
- None of these factors.
- All factors.
You see that only the first factor don't keep up with individual behavior.
From his study, Dr. Grossarth reached this conclusion: People who did not have any of these factors did not live long. But those who had all these positive factors had a long life. Those who had 14 positive factors but not a good heritage could still reach a high age. The most interesting observation that emerged from this ample research has been that the strongest drop in the duration of life was recorded when factor 12 was missing, the relationship with God.
