After some hickups and a restart, the upgrade to hard fork 21 of the Steem blockchain appears to be stable. My decision to not upgrade with everyone else has definitely saved me some stress today - I will be upgrading tomorrow morning after sleepz. :)
For your reference, in case you missed it - you now have some free downvotes each day that won't use up your voting power. Some people have already 'celebrated' by downvoting my trending post exposing industrial scale child abuse - their names have been noted.
The most practical use of free downvotes at this point (and a large part of why the feature has been added) is to allow you to downvote posts that use bid bots. I have no problem with that at all and in fact, I think it's a good idea. I did use bid bots when they were first introduced, mainly because it was profitable to do so and was really the only way to get much visibility on the blockchain. After having thought more deeply about the situation though, I decided to stop and thankfully have received good support from many people on Steem - so thanks to everyone who has given me a boost, your names are noted too! I will be doing more manual curation now, since curation is more rewarding - as I imagine most others will be too - so I'll be sure to remember who has helped me out as well as looking for great content from anyone and everyone.
