Dentro de poco será el cumple de mi novio y quería hacerle algo especial. Cada vez que quiero hacer un regalo sigo un pequeño procedimiento que yo misma cree, les explico en que consiste. Lo primero que hago es pensar en todas las cosas que le entusiasman a esa persona y esta es la base. A algunos hombres les fascinan los deportes, como boxeo, carreras o fútbol, en tales casos regalaría algo con su equipo favorito o jugador preferido, puloveres o tasas con estampado. Fijarme en sus aficiones es importante, me hago preguntas como ¿En que emplea la mayor parte del tiempo? Si está todo el día leyendo le regalo un libro, si se pasa todo el día escribiendo le regalo un cuaderno, siempre asegurandome que sea algo que le guste y use, mostrando que me intereso por sus intereses (aunque sean distintos a los míos) este es mi segundo paso. En lo personal me gusta que mis regalos estén compuestos por 2 partes, una que cubra una necesidad, puede ser golosinas, ropa, materiales o instrumentos que necesita o quiere para algún proyecto, con esto le demuestro que estoy pendiente a sus necesidades y lo otro es algo personal, hecho por mí que no sea de utilidad pero le recuerde que lo tengo presente y que dedico tiempo, un detalle íntimo que diga cuánto lo amo.
Soon it will be my boyfriend's birthday and I wanted to make him something special. Every time I want to make a gift I follow a little procedure that I create myself, I explain to you what it consists of. The first thing I do is to think of all the things that excite that person and this is the basis. Some men are fascinated by sports, like boxing, racing or soccer, in such cases I would give something with their favorite team or favorite player, pullovers or printed cups. I ask myself questions like "What does he spend most of his time doing? If he spends all day reading I give him a book, if he spends all day writing I give him a notebook, always making sure it is something he likes and uses, showing that I am interested in his interests (even if they are different from mine) this is my second step. Personally I like my gifts to be composed of 2 parts, one that covers a need, it can be candy, clothes, materials or tools that he needs or wants for a project, with this I show him that I am aware of his needs and the other is something personal, made by me that is not useful but reminds him that I have him present and that I dedicate time to him, an intimate detail that says how much I love him.
En mi caso mi novio es amante de la música, los juegos y series, tengo bastante tema para escoger, la mayor parte de su tiempo la pasa jugando Pokémon así que ya tengo el tema. El año pasado le regale unos dibujos a pixel de los 3 pokemones iniciales, quiero hacer algo diferente este año. Investigando averigüé que le gustan mucho los iniciales de la segunda generación y pensé que sería buena idea hacerle unas figurillas en arcilla de estos.
In my case my boyfriend is a lover of music, games and series, I have plenty of theme to choose from, most of his time is spent playing Pokémon so I already have the theme. Last year I gave him some pixel drawings of the 3 initial pokemon, I want to do something different this year. Researching I found out that he really likes the second generation initials and I thought it would be a good idea to make him some clay figurines of them.
La verdad no estaba segura como quedaría pero tenía el tiempo a mi favor, sin presión y si no quedaban bien ya haría otra cosa. Ya tengo la idea, vamos manos a la obra y empiezo a modelar. Elegí al Pokémon tipo planta como el primero por su forma simple, su nombre es chikorita y es uno de los que más le gustan. Después de esperar una noche entera a que se endureciera puedo hacerle unos retoques, las imperfecciones del modelado puedo rectificarlas tallando con una cuchilla, como si fuera un trozo de madera. Ya todo está listo para pintar con los colores que corresponden, los ojos fueron hechos con plumilla de tinta negra para los bordes y plumones de acrílico para el relleno. Me gusta como esta quedando, para darle mejor terminación y que sea más duradero le pongo barniz transparente de secado rápido, esto le da un brillo que hace que se vea más lindo y preserva la pintura.
The truth is I wasn't sure how it would look like but I had time on my side, no pressure and if they didn't look good I would do something else. Now I have the idea, let's get to work and start modeling. I chose the plant type Pokémon as the first one because of its simple shape, its name is chikorita and it is one of the ones he likes the most. After waiting a whole night for it to harden I can make some touch-ups, the imperfections of the modeling I can rectify them by carving with a blade, as if it were a piece of wood. Now everything is ready to paint with the corresponding colors, the eyes were made with black ink pen for the edges and acrylic pens for the filling. I like the way it looks, to give it a better finish and to make it more durable I put quick-drying transparent varnish, this gives it a shine that makes it look nicer and preserves the paint.
El segundo que hice fue un cyndaquil, tipo fuego, me encanta ese nombre y se ve tan tierno, creo que es mi favorito. El proceso es el mismo, modelar, dejar endurecer una noche y pintar. No sabía si hacerle el fuego de la espalda o no, preferí no hacerlo, esas fueron las imagenes que utilicé como guía.
The second one I made was a cyndaquil, fire type, I love that name and it looks so cute, I think it's my favorite. The process is the same, model, let it harden overnight and paint. I didn't know whether to do the fire on the back or not, I preferred not to do it, those are the images that i use as a guide.
El tercero se llama totodile, es una especie de cocodrilo y el que me pareció más difícil. Lo primero que hice fue hacer sus partes por separado, ya que tiene un diseño complejo, sus patitas, sus bracitos, los dientes y la cresta con picos también la hice a parte. En una sola pieza hice el cuerpo con la cabeza y la cola, su boca abierta y la endidura entre los ojos. Una vez hecha la forma principal empecé a ensamblar las partes evitando deformar la figura obtenida. Fueron muchos intentos fallidos pero el resultado final fue asombroso, de verdad me hizo feliz ver lo que había logrado.
The third one is called totodile, it is a kind of crocodile and the one I found the most difficult. The first thing I did was to make its parts separately, since it has a complex design, its legs, its little arms, its teeth and the crest with beaks I also made it separately. In one piece I made the body with the head and tail, his open mouth and the groove between the eyes. Once the main shape was done I started to assemble the parts avoiding deforming the figure obtained. There were many failed attempts but the final result was amazing, it really made me happy to see what i get.
Mi último paso es crear la presentación, no lo voy a dar así sin más, así que les hice unas cajitas, cada una con el elemento que representa. Me esforcé mucho en estos días pero siento que valió la pena, he ganado habilidad con la arcilla y el tallado manual, ya verán más trabajitos hechos así próximamente. My last step is to create the presentation, I am not going to give it just like that, so I made some little boxes, each one with the element it represents. I put a lot of effort in these days but I feel it was worth it, I have gained skill with clay and hand carving, you will see more work done like this soon. I hope you like it very much.
