The Apple is such a simple fruit but also a very complex fruit. Some people like apples and some people don’t, some people also have IBS exacerbated by apple, however only some apples.
Apples come in all colours; all flavours and all have slightly different consistency and tastes. However the humble apple has had a chequered past and given a bad rap from, apparently, the very beginning.
Because of its shape and colour is has been painted as a seducer, it has been pin pointed as the shift from ethereal to mortal, it has been seen and painted as the tool of original sin in some cultures, and yet , even though it is seen as the catalyst for original sin, it is still consumed by the tonnes.
In many cultures the Apple is seen as symbolising good health and future happiness, An Apple a day keeps the doctor away, I guess the apple is implied meaning depending on what a culture wants to imply.
What was seen as original sin in one culture, the catalyst for mortality and therefore a change from the ultimate spiritual Eden of immortality? In other cultures the Apple Tree is the tree of life, the tree that provided the fruit that give ownership of the body, ownership of the mind, the concept of free thinking the notion of fertility.
It is interesting to see how different religious beliefs apply a different implication and meaning as to what the apple represents, however in each belief the apple represents life, it represents the moment that conception of life begins and it represents the birth of Man/Woman
From my understanding and reading the only religious belief that views the apple as an end is Christianity, one wonders at what point control is applied to placate the masses, or to paint a story of greater wisdom. As the apple is the moment of the empowerment of human kind, one must wonder what this belief has on the people that others want to control.
In the last statistical figures over 68,000 kilo tonnes of apples gets consumed in 1 year, that’s a lot of apples.
Personally I love apples, whenever I am not feeling too well, one of my first points of all is a good apple pie from a bakery, or one that I am able to make myself, I love stewed apples and yoghurt, I love apple juice, I love eating apples fresh of a tree, knowing it is going to be crisp, sweet and pleasing to crunch.
The fact that the apple is one of the first p[point of calls when I feel unwell, demonstrates the enculturated concept that Apples are the giver of life, the healer and the fruit that bring not only physical wellness but also increases mental health.
Apples have been demonstrated to be good for your Lung strength, your heart, asthma, bone health, weight loss, eases symptoms of Alzheimer’s and memory loss, your immune system and also your gut health, and that is just a few of the benefits that an apple can provide for us.
They are rich in Vitamin A, B and C which are essential vitamins for our well being.
So matter the implied meaning that an apple may have from different cultural background, the reality is that through the technology of science it is demonstrated how beneficial an apple is,
So - An apple a day keeps the doctor away
