Is Fame an attainable thing or is it just a far flung concept that people think they want but don’t really
I see in the world of modern technologies that many people seek the elusive fame and many think that they have achieved it, If they receive over a 1000 followers on You Tube or have 200 subscribers on Twitch or X amount of followers on Instagram or Twitter, they perceive themselves as being famous, although the terminology these days is ‘influencer’
These so called influencers, often with their pouting lips and self righteous attitude make themselves famous for not necessarily the reason they think.
I have watched some of these that come from a generation that believes they have a right and do not have to work for it, I see some think that by treating others with disdain and disrespect gets them fame and fortune. I see many that believe if they stir the pot, sensationalise and create havoc that they will be famous, and yes they are often right, because what we are fed through most mainstream media is sensationalism and shock as a way of attracting people into the realm.
It used to get called Click Bait and still is, however it appears to be the norm these days. When you see headlines such as , Appalling act at Tennis, when all that happened was a player threw his towel into his seat, Shock and outrage at stars premier, and all that happened was someone on the carpet wore a split dress.
Today’s headlines on my yahoo are, Furore erupts over Socceroos hero - when all that happened was the player did a dance after scoring a goal
Star reveals Scary diagnosis – He went in for an eye check and Glaucoma was noticed, not an uncommon affliction
Headlines like ‘Under Fire’ ‘Crushing Blow’ ‘True Face’ ‘Left Raging over Disgusting Scenes’ ‘Warning Warning’ – All headlines that are preying on a society that wants to be shocked and awed because it justifies their self righteous opinion of what is happening, all designed to perpetuate the level of non responsibility for the state of their own being.
Is it any wonder that a certain generation that takes no self responsibility will jump on this way of thinking and use sensationalism as a way of gaining fame and think that what they are doing is creating Justice for all when all they are doing is appeasing their own sense of definition through the eyes of others, that have also been influenced through the sensationalist era.
Fame, if you really want to be famous, be humble, be noteworthy, understand the world is a bigger place than just one inch in front of you, make change for change sake, have an impact globally and not locally, realise that you are not the centre of the universe and that there are many out there that do a far better job of having an impact than you. Fame is an illusion, Fame for Fames sake is self effacing.
One you have made a very real global impact then you can consider yourself a contributor, Fame is something that others imply upon you and then others expect you to live up to.
In my eyes the most famous are those that are not, the tireless workers that go about their business but make a very real impact on the world around them. The person who sweeps the corridors of the railway station so that we do not have to traverse the squalor that others leave behind is more famous than the ‘Influencer’ that demands just because they have a self righteous attitude of entitlement
