Have you ever found yourself in a situation that you are unaware how you got into it, have you ever found yourself somewhere where you don’t know how you got there, have you ever found yourself doing things that you are uncomfortable doing.
The scenarios above are indicators that you have been coerced and that you have just followed a direction that has been offered to you,. Why you followed that direction, only you can answer.
It might be that you have a misplaced trust into the direction given, that you have placed value in something that you possibly shouldn’t have.
Coerce is most often associated with possible negative connotations and that t be coerced into something is because you have been given no alternative and that you have been informed that the direction to take is the only direction that there is.
Coercion can also happen when we have a limited knowledge of something, we haven’t taken the time to be informed and we have followed blindly believing that the direction or action we take is the only action or direction there is.
People can coerce us into directions or actions we do not really want to take but believe the alternative is worse. Politicians coerce us into making decision because they paint the other picture as being non feasible, religion also coerces into certain direction and actions with a belief that the alternative is not an option.
The best way to avoid being coerced is to make sure that you come from an informed position. Unfortunately part of this being informed could come across as being cautious, being untrusting. If those around you want you to think, do or be somewhere where you are not comfortable then they should allow you the space to become informed so that you can make a decision based on knowledge.
If people around you get annoyed, angry, more tenacious and even abusive towards you because you are not doing there bidding, then walk away, no matter what opportunities they may be offering you that sound fantastic, walk way.
Always know that you are the master of your own coercion and that only you can make decisions as to what, why, where and when and that we must empower ourselves everyday and know that we are the master of our own truth
