Hello everyone. Hope we are all fine? Well, today and tomorrow have been declared as public holidays by the federal government to enable the Muslim faithfuls celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir. Larry says happy Eid Mubarakto all those celebrating. Larry then moves over to have a look at today in #history. Larry finds out the following historical events:
Gentlemen, Larry began his look at today in history with the British royalty. Larry finds out that Victoria whose full name is Alexandrina Victoria was crowned queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland on this day in 1838. She was also the empress of India (1876–1901). Victoria's reign was one of the longest in British history, and the popular Victorian Age was named after her.
Larry being a war veteran was attracted to the events of the WWI. He finds out that on this day in 1919, The Treaty of Versailles was signed at the Palace of Versailles in France, bringing World War I to a close. Larry recalls the events leading to the signing of the treaty by the Allied and associated powers and by Germany in the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles. He remembers that President Woodrow Wilson of the United States, French Premier Georges Clemenceau, and British Prime Minister David Lloyd George signed the Treaty of Versailles. Although Italian Prime Minister Vittorio Orlando was a delegate, he was excluded from decision-making.
From there, Larry switches his interest to combat sports (boxing). What he saw tickles his fancy. Larry exhales after some bouts of laughter. He finds out that on this day in 1997, Mike Tyson was disqualified in a heavyweight title fight after biting Evander Holyfield's ears twice; as a result of the infraction, he temporarily lost his boxing license.
Birthdays are always special days. Larry decides to see it there are persons he knows that was brought into mother earth 🌎 this day. One significant name popped up and he nodded in appreciation. Elon Musk the African-born American entrepreneur who cofounded PayPal and SpaceX, a manufacturer of launch vehicles and spacecraft was born this day in 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa.
Finally, Larry moves over to the latin America and finds out that on this day in 2009, Honduran President Manuel Zelaya was deposed by the country's military on the same day as a national referendum that, if successful, would have allowed him to run for reelection.
Larry then felt that he has seen enough already and then walks home to enjoy the holiday woth his family.
