Hello everyone, welcome to today's edition of my hunt for Larry the postman. But before Larry commences his deliveries for the day, he turns his attention to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from England. He finds out that on this day in 1836, naturalist Charles Darwin returned to England following a five-year voyage on the HMS Beagle, during which he collected the specimens and observations that led to his hypothesis of evolution by natural selection.

From England, Larry moves over to India. He finds out that on this day in 1869, Mahatma Gandhi whose full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, an Indian lawyer, politician, social activist, and writer who rose to prominence as the head of the nationalist movement opposing British rule in India. As a result, he came to be known as the father of his country was born in Porbandar, India.

From the India, Larry goes to Ethiopia. He finds out that on this day in 1935, Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie ordered mobilization after learning that Italian forces had crossed the border to start the Italo-Ethiopian War.

From Ethiopia, Larry moves over to France. He finds out that on this day in 1851, Ferdinand Foch, Marshal of France and commander of Allied troops in the last months of World War I, often regarded as the leader most responsible for the Allied victory was born in Tarbes, France.

From France, Larry goes to Sweden. He finds out that on this day in 1927, Svante Arrhenius, whose full name was Svante August Arrhenius, a Swedish physicist and physical chemist well known for his theory of electrolytic dissociation and greenhouse effect model died in Stockholm, Swedish.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in history from Finland. He finds out that on this day in 1973, Paavo Nurmi, whose full name was Paavo Johannes Nurmi, a Finnish track and field athlete who dominated long-distance running in the 1920s, winning nine gold medals and three silvers in three Olympic Games (1920, 1924, 1928) died in Helsinki, Finnish.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
