Come to a wedding with lots of celebration and dancing

Inviting you to celebrate the wedding ............
Your presence on our wedding day is the greatest gift we could ask for.

The arty vogue invitation was quietly left on the bench seat at the front door by our very considered and very nice post lady. The little baby I nursed, the boy who I watched grow up with my kids, the boy who came with his family every Christmas to my home for a lot of years was getting married. I wonder where the time has gone, I am filled with both a touch of sadness and optimistic happiness too. All kids grow up and get married, just like mine have and like I did long ago. It is life Angie!

We had 6 weeks until the wedding, let's get organised. The 'yes' reply was sent my email, the hotel room booked, the formal attire, my forever stylish vintage Veronica Maine dress and my hubby's black suit and tie came out of the wardrobe. Everything flowed in happy anticipation all complete with a drive to Brisbane.

A pretty collaged style card was bought, the money placed inside, well wishes for a happy marriage and lasting love to the bride and groom sealed inside.

Just the right words written inside the card, always the right card is found, meant to be.

A happy ending to your love story ....
a beautiful beginning to your new life together.
Congratulations

Now I sit quietly today reminiscing a wedding that flew by in a flash, all so beautifully romantic, the old aesthetically artistic Church full of guests in their best dress up outfits sitting in the pews watching a ceremony full of music and song, the gorgeously dressed bride and groom full of happy love and smiles. It was all so sweet and so perfect filling me with memories of my wedding ceremony 41 years ago, I am sure it was only yesterday. At least it feels like this.

Matthew and Samara were full of big smiles as they walked down the aisle hand in hand to the afternoon sun outside the Church, their first walk as Mr and Mrs in a life together.

To be greeted with the loud drumming beat of two drums inviting the bride and groom into a very happy celebratory energetic dance.

Photos were snapped of the bride and groom with ever eager happy families, so much talking, smiles and joy emanated from the guests standing in front of the most amazing red brick Church built a life time ago in another era in a suburb called New Farm.

Across the road I went to get a full scale photo of the Church and spire, but unfortunately as much as I tried the electric wire strung across the road I could not avoid, so I did what I had to, I snapped the photo. It does show off the beauty of the Holy Spirit Church and I think I achieved my objective in using the green leaves of the tree branches to soften the photo, to add a touch of nature.

The reception was a night to remember, tastiest and lovelies of food, lots of wine and beer, wonderful happy speeches and toasts, and of course lots of dancing. It was the best feel good night, one that will stay with me for a long time.

I wish the bride and groom the happiest of marriages, may it be a long one full of fun, laughter, togetherness and love.

......................................................

I arrived home only yesterday afternoon clutching a few roses that decorated the table I sat at. How could I, alwaysaflower girl not walk out with a rose or two to take home with me? They are sitting in a vase of crystal, a very old beautiful vase belonging to my mother-in-law who passed over in the 1960's, reminding me that time waits for no-one telling me never to waste a moment, to grab each loving happy moment I can.

I breathe in the love, the scent, colour and memories of the roses and the happiness of the bride and groom, it was a very happy Sunday night that went by far too quickly of course as it always does.

I send prayers and love to a mother-in-law I have never met but know within my hearts of hearts that she was the perfect mother and the loveliest of ladies.
