BLOG OF THE MONTH: "4 GREAT MUSICAL DECADES"

pixiz-16-08-2022-11-35-58.jpg

Good morning to all the beautiful people in this community. Today I have the pleasure of participating again in a theme of the month convened by Silver Bloggers, this time corresponding to the month of August, and to which I was invited by my pretty little friend @chacald.dcymt. The content that we are going to develop corresponds to the favorite song of 4 decades of our lives, and although I am part of 6 decades, I am going to concentrate on those that marked the beginning and the sequence of my musical times. The 60s were part of my life, but I was just born during those golden years of our parents in which genres such as pasodoble, salsa, bolero, among others, were manifested in our Venezuela. I would love to invite my friends @brujita18 and @evev to participate in this theme that I know they will love. To participate you can enter this link and follow the rules of the contest:

Although I was born in the late '60s, my musical ear had a life of its own since the mid-'70s, yes, the time of The Beatles, Chicago, Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, Freddy Mercury, the Abba group, and the Bee Gees… these last two were always my favorites during my childhood, although I confess that I liked them all. The best thing that could happen to me in life was that my adolescence and youth coincided with the famous 80s, that time when everything was perfect, fashion, music, way of life... and so little by little an icon was left marked for every musical decade lived. Although it is not easy at all, I will mention one of my favorite songs for 4 decades in a row... I hope you enjoy this journey through our musical past.

  • DECADE OF 70'S

Music as part of my life began to have an influence from a very young age with the children's songs that my aunt sang to us, I remember a beautiful melody that I hummed all day and that said: "Once upon a time there was a little boat, that could not, that I couldn't navigate”… but it wasn't until I was about 6 or 7 years old that I began to feel that other passion for some songs of the time. The record stores saw the commercial opportunity to create records with the varied music of the moment, and in the discos, which were all the rage of those days, they played mixes with a wide variety of themes from the 70s, it was the contagious Disco music. Of course, young people did not hesitate for a second to acquire them, and it could be said that the same music played daily in the house that they danced to in fashionable nightclubs.

I loved a song called “Chiquitita” by the group Abba, but in the case of the Gibb brothers, I enjoyed all their songs because I grew up under the influence of my cousins who were between 4 and 10 years older than me, and that was the music that was repeated the most in the house, the one that was played at the parties they had, the meetings, and at any time of the day because the Travolta dance whose songs belonged entirely to the Bee Gees was also in fashion. It was the era of acetate records and cassettes. I do not keep any of them, but I did have many tapes with varied music from that time where the songs of the three Gibb brothers were repeated. My favorite band in the 70's.

My favorite song is: "How deep is your love". This theme was part of the movie Saturday Night Fever starring Jhon Travolta, one of my favorite actors of all time.

Although most of his songs are beautiful, this one always had a special effect on me. My favorite genre is the ballad, no matter what language it is. I look for the translation and fill myself with its lyrics. Ballads always bring a message of love, I'm very romantic and maybe that's why I identify more with this musical genre. I do enjoy them all though.

Lyrics of the song

How Deep Is Your Love (Bee Gees)

I know your eyes in the morning Sun
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain
And the moment that you wander far from me
I wanna feel you in my arms again

And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love, then you softly leave
And it's me you need to show

How deep is your love
How deep is your love, how deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down
When they all should let us be
We belong to you and me

I believe in you
You know the door to my very soul
You're the light in my deepest, darkest hour
You're my saviour when I fall

And you may not think that I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do
And it's me you need to show.

How deep is your love
How deep is your love, how deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down
When they all should let us be
We belong to you and me.

And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love and then you softly leave
And it's me you need to show

How deep is your love
How deep is your love, how deep is your love?
I really mean to learn...

How deep is your love, how deep is your love?
I really mean to learn...

  • THE 80'S

The 80s is and always will be my adored time from beginning to end, and although I was the bearer of the famous "Menuditis" that was the fanaticism for the Menudo group, the euphoria passed with the passing of the years since that decade framed two stages important parts of my life, adolescence and youth.

Actually naming a favorite song in this decade is the most difficult thing I can do because they were all spectacular, bands, duos, groups, soloists took on the task of composing and interpreting songs that deeply penetrated the hearts of that youth, in my mind singers like Michael Jackson, Steve Wonder, Cindy Lauper, Madonna, and many more pass by… but since ballads are my favorite genre, I go to my favorite band from the 80s, the duo Air Supply, and whose songs are entirely beautiful, being for me the most connotative; “Just as I am”.

In that decade we did not have CDs, we only had cassettes of varied music and some originals, we also sent them to be recorded. In the 90's I managed to buy a CD with the greatest hits of Air Supply and it is one of my material treasures.

Lyrics of the song

Just as I Am (Air Supply)

I've had a lot of big dreams
I've made a lot of bad moves
I know you could walk away
But you never do.

I've met a lot of cold hearts
I've learned to smile and deceive
I know I'm hard to be around
But you never leave.

And I'm not easy to understand
But you hold out your hand.

And you say you love me
Just as I am
You always treat me
The best that you can
You say you want me, need me
Love me baby, just as I am,
Just as I am.

I've made a lot of heartaches
I've found a lot of closed doors
When all the others turn away
You love me more
You love me more.

And I'm not easy to understand
But you hold out your hand.

And you say you love me
Just as I am
You always treat me
The best that you can
You say you want me, need me
Love me baby, just as I am,
Just as I am.

I want to love forever
To keep our world together
And be the best that I can be
Baby, every time the world caves in on me.

You say you love me
Just as I am
You always treat me
The best that you can
You say you want me, need me
Love me baby, just as I am,
Just as I am.

You say you love me
Just as I am
You always treat me
The best that you can
You say you want me, need me
Love me baby, just as I am,
Just as I am.

  • THE 90'S

In this decade I had well defined my musical taste, and the genre that identified me the most was the ballad with almost all its representatives, and from many countries. He collected the cassettes of various ballads, and spent hours listening to them while doing housework. Oh, sure! By this time she was married and a mother of a family. But there was always plenty of time to enjoy the music of that decade from Ricardo Montaner and Franco De Vita, passing through the Illegals, and reaching the international and beautiful Chayanne and Alejandro Fernández, El Potrillo.

The latter, my favorite singer since I met him until today. The first time I heard Alejandro sing was on a TV show on Venevisión, Venezuela, where they were welcoming him to our country. Since I heard his voice, I fell in love with him, with his songs, with his beautiful charro demeanor when he sang rancheras dressed in his spectacular typical costume.

With the passing of the years and my fanaticism for El Potrillo, I not only collected his records but also became part of the Fan Club that at that time of its beginnings was in Univisión. There were no other social networks, neither instagram, nor facebook, nor many others that we have today. In Univisión he had a forum created by that company where clubs were formed all over the world, and they were baptized with the name: Las Potrillas de Alejandro Fernández. More than 15 years have passed since I joined the Foaly Fan Club, I still have badges, banners that they gave us, and many details of those beautiful times. The Fillies still exist and every day we are more, but many of those who started no longer have that euphoria of the first days, what is certain is that it is still my idol, and that of many.

My favorite song of this decade and of all decades is the same one I heard him sing for the first time when Venezuela welcomed him: “Si tú supieras”.

Lyrics of the song

  • THE NEW MILLENNIUM

In the new millennium I was already exercising my profession fully, and among my job responsibilities was coordinating folk dances. I connected much more with my roots, especially with the llanera music that was heard with increasing intensity on radio stations to rescue our culture.

In the 1990s, a song was released that did not have as much receptivity or crossed as many thresholds as after it came from the voice of a Venezuelan singer named Luis Silva. This song was not only part of many cultural events at the educational institution where I worked, but also became an anthem for me and for the entire country, with the respect that our Alma Llanera deserves, and the national anthem, but I know that today Today this issue has a great repercussion and a very strong effect for many Venezuelans inside and outside the country, especially outside. Its lyrics fill our soul so much that it is impossible not to cry every time we listen to it. It really sensitizes us every word and every verse that Mr. Armenteros and Herrero, its creators, gave it at the time of composing it.

Luis-Silva-show-15-.jpg

My favorite song for the 2000's is “Venezuela”.

Lyrics of the song

Venezuela (Luis Silva)

Nuevas estrellas.

Y si un día tengo que naufragar
Y el tifón rompe mis velas
Enterrad mi cuerpo cerca del mar
En Venezuela.

  • GOODBYE TO A GREAT STAR

I left a special space for the closing of this publication to remember a beautiful actress and singer who left us a few days ago, Mrs. Olivia Newton Jhon, and whom I have always admired since her participation in one of my favorite movies since I was a child, " Grease", alongside my favorite actor, Jhon Travolta. Seeing them in this video has always taken me back to a golden age in the world that could hardly be repeated. Rest in peace, Olivia.

I hope you liked this brief tour of my favorite songs from my first four decades of life, and what makes them special to me. I could spend days mentioning all the others but I just stuck to the contest rules lol. It is that music has no limits when we go into it. Right yes? Thank you all for visiting my blog, I would love to read your comments and what songs we agree on. I wish you a happy and blessed day.
