A "Blink of an Eye" in a Storm

My heart's been very heavy this past week...the whole world is just getting crazier by the day, with wars and storms...and floods...and all happening so fast...like in a "blink of an eye" ...it's so darn scary.

Being locked inside the house for days with my dogs, because of the torrential rain and floods we've been experiencing here in Durban ...it truly felt like forever...and developing a slight bout of cabin fever... when the sun showed it's happy face, I didn't hesitate to take a stroll around the garden before I allowed myself to get into a state of depression.

It was so good to see the sun again after a week of destruction to properties, and tragedies occurring almost every day during the torrential rain which coursed terrible floods through out Durban.

As I stood outside and felt the warmth from the sun on my face, hoping to forget some of the doom and gloom and anguish of the past few days.
I realized how fortunate we are living on a hill...with no serious damage to our property...feeling a little twinge of guilt and of sadness at the same time, I couldn't help thinking of those poor people who have lost everything... children been washed away and families ripped apart...I can't imagine the pain and anguish they must be feeling.

My daughter, Candice, lost her friend Heather, who was asleep when her bedroom collapsed, her and her son were washed down a mudslide. Heather, landing under a concrete wall sadly lost her life, her son and boyfriend are in ICU fighting for their lives at the moment.

Then, hubby's old work mate lost his daughter and all three grand children in a land slide...they were driving to his home for safety and sadly disappeared into a sink hole.

So bloody sad...and the weather forecast said, we're going to have heavy rain again this weekend...I just hope and pray it blows away.

Petrol Stations have been flooded out, unable to serve petrol to the public, most garages have run out already.

Durban looks like a war zone at the moment, in our area the roads have been ripped up, and reservoirs dried up with water pipes been damaged leaving us without water for the past three days.
We've been buying water which is slowly running out in the shops.
My kind neighbor offered us water from her swimming pool to flush the loo.
At least the ablutions are sorted out for now. Lol!

With our infrastructure being weak as it is from our corrupt Government's neglect...who knows how long it's going to take to fix our beautiful Kwa Zulu Natal.

Jack is so happy to be outside again that he plonked himself down in a puddle of water...the other two are no where to be found....probably found a muddy patch at the bottom of the garden...Omg, with no water to hose them down, they're going to stay outside until they dry off...that's for sure.

We have been having "Cow Boy" baths in the wash hand basin Lol!
My dad always use to say when we went camping, "Have a cow Boy Bath".
I think he watched to many Cow Boy Movies in his day, he use to read a lot of Lois L'Amour books too.
I think @lizelle had more devastation around her area with houses washed away and banks collapsing, than here up the hill.

I'm glad she didn't have much damage to their property though and they're safe.

So guess what we're eating to save water on dishwashing.

Yes...of Couse!...the good old "sandwich".

Well on a lighter note...I will say goodbye for now until next time.
