Spring is here for us finally. Yes, there is still a chill occasionally in the air, but the grass is green and growing. So much so that we have had to mow it twice already. With the spring and yard work comes landcaping improvements.
THe first and only project so far is improving the center piece to our front yard which is pictured above. The center piece covers where we used to have a tree. However, the tree had to be cut down because it was rottening. This left a major bare spot after that grinded the stump down.
When we intially put this center piece in, it was just thown down and none of the timbers were cut to size or pinned to the ground. We couldn't pin anything or size them and connect because the surface roots got in the way.
This weekend we finally got the surface roots cut out, timbers sized, connected, and pinned to the ground. We still need to fix the solar lights surrounding it that are set into the timbers and plant some more flowers.
We also had our handyman repair and patch up some rotting spots around the garage trim. It was too cold to paint today, but tomorrow the trim should get a fresh coat of paint and look good as new.
While all this was taking place, the wife mowed the back and side yards, as well as the neighbor's yard. Our neighbor is having health issues and can't mow their yard right now. Since we have a riding mower it was easy, but there were some spots that the riding mower couldn't fit, so it had to be pushed mowed.
All in all, we had a good day of yard work and looking forward to more landscaping work tomorrow and finishing up mowing the front yard once the landscaping out there is done.
It was nice to get out of the house for sometime in the sun, work with the handyman, who happens to also be a friend. We chatted here and there while working and shared stories. It was a relief.
I'll share pictures of all the finished work once it is finished in a future post.
Until then...

Joe
