And dreams are forever." - Walt Disney
When I joined Hive last year, in my first few months, I was a bit lost. I had regained my blogging mojo in the previous months while writing on another platform that I enjoy very much. But experience told me that I had to have more than one alternative, as nothing lasts forever. Having a personal blog was out of the question. I had tried it in the past, and it is hard to get interaction and readers. And for me, that is a fundamental part of blogging, to be able to interact and establish friendships with other bloggers.
Then one day, a couple of months after I joined Hive, @carolinacardoza, who I knew from the other platform, left me a message telling me to talk to her on discord to give me some advice about Hive. Carolina came from Steemit. And she already had a long way to go on Hive. Her help was invaluable to me. She guided me, and that completely changed my experience on Hive. She was the one who brought some communities to my attention, and one of those was Silver Bloggers. I remember my first post was for the Halloween BOW.
I got hooked on the community. In the beginning, I didn't post very often, but I liked to browse the content of the community, and I could relate to some of the posts. I even joined the Discord channel, although I've never been very good in group chats. I felt at ease in the coffee corner. And little by little, I got to know some of its members. And then, I invited some of my friends from the other platform, who met the profile, to join the community.
Then one day last January, in one of her posts, Fiona asked who could help in the community. I left her a comment saying I was at her disposal. Shortly after, Lizelle contacted me asking if I wanted to be a moderator, and here I am. Not only as a proud Silver Blogger but also as part of a great team in the best community in Hive.

But I think I've said too much, and I still haven't answered the question Why am I a Silver Blogger? Easy peasy.
Let's go through the golden threads in the description of Silver Bloggers and why I fit in.
a keenness to learn more about blockchain and crypto – we’re not digital natives – most of us were born before the PC was imagined; we ask “stoopid” questions
I have been in the world of cryptocurrencies since 2015. I've had a few stumbles along the way, but the good thing is that I've learned a lot of lessons too. One of them is that no matter how "stoopid" you think a question is, go ahead and ask it. In my profile description, I say I'm still learning to live in the Cryptoverse, and it's literal. And I don't think this learning process will ever stop as long as I live and my head works, and I hope both things will go hand in hand.
a compulsion to share our life experiences for storage on the blockchain for our children and children’s children
I don't think YET about grandchildren like my friend Lizelle. But those of you who have been reading me for a while know that in a few months, I will be left with an empty nest. Sharing experiences and recording them forever on the blockchain so that my son can read them one day seems to be a great treasure for me.
musings and memories of lives lived – the happy and the sad, the long and the short
I have much of that all to share, and I value a lot to have the space to do so.
planning for life beyond formal work – from leisure and travel to second (or third…) careers, hobbies that can supplement pensions and just what keeps “un” working people busy
I've been working on the life beyond formal work for some time now. Since one fateful day, when the incumbent president of my country decided to fire all the 18,000 employees of the main industry of the country on television and that led to thousands of other layoffs. I learned not to be afraid to stand up for myself. To accept professional challenges, even if they were not in the field in which I had been trained. To not be afraid to go out on my own. To learn new things and open up new possibilities for me to look after my family. And despite the difficulties and circumstances that have surrounded me, I don't complain. And I hope I can always be doing something that keeps me busy, and if I get benefits to my semi-retired life, all the better.
I've never hidden my age, but I don't go through life saying it out loud either. I feel quite young. And modesty aside, I think I look younger than I am, LOL. But I do comply with the Silver Bloggers, preferably 40 plus. In fact, I'm in my early 50s ;)
And if all of the above weren't enough reasons why I consider myself a Silver Blogger. As a good SB, I love to appreciate simple things. I enjoy today and worry less about tomorrow, although I want to have a tomorrow and live it to the fullest too.
But most of all, I love to be part of the Silver Bloggers community. I will always be grateful to @lizelle and @fionasfavourites for inviting me to join the team and opening the door for me. For the opportunity to work with the dude, @mondoshawan, and learn from the master of Discord, where I'm still a bit of a misguided cat sometimes. For allowing me to share and meet wonderful people and for giving me and many of us a space in Hive where I feel at home.

This is my out-of-competition post for the Silver Bloggers community #BOM, this month about Why I'm a Silver Blogger.
Remember you still have time to participate until Thursday, March, 10 at midnight UTC. You can check instructions and prizes at Blog of the Month: New Theme for 10 March 2022.
