At the end of last year, we told you we were taking a break from the regular blog of the week initiative and that we were rethinking it. We have.
But first
The community continues to grow - we gave you a run-down here, so I won't labour it here, except that we have, happily, more members, a couple of thank yous and an introduction:

Introducing...
Also in our last post we asked for volunteers to help us manage a few things behind the scenes. It's with great pleasure that we introduce @coquicoin who joins as both a moderator and curator.
For those not familiar with what curation involves, the team identifies quality posts that fit with our community's preferred topics and are under valued. These are then shared with @ocd for curation. You will soon notice that we're all going to be more attentive and to you and the community guidelines.
We still need help
Everyone in the team has real life commitments and because well life happens, we're all AFK for chunks of time. Also, until recently the majority of us are in one time zone (UTC + 2) while most of our members are in another. It really helps that @coquicoin is from Venezuela and is a Spanish speaker. So, if you'd like to get involved, please ping @lizelle, @coquicoin or @fionasfavourites in our Discord channel.
Blog of the month
We are not making HUGE changes to our regular blog challenge. Rather, we've decided to take the pressure off everyone and to run the initiative monthly - probably over eleven months, and with a break over December into January, as we did this year.
January's theme
We figured the new year is still young enough to be planning, so this week's them is -
To enter
How to enter your post for the Blog of the Month (#BoM) - the criteria remain the same -
- Posts must be in English and obviously centre on the week’s theme or topic.
- Prose must be a minimum of 350 words. If it’s a photo or graphic essay, the photos must be your original work and preferably with some sort of back-story to the images.
- The blog must be posted in/from our community
- The account must be a subscribed Silver Blogger
- Use #BoM - blog of the month - as your first tag.
- Share the link to your entry in the comments of this post and in our Discord channel which is open to subscribed members only.
Consider following the #BoM tag so that you can can easily find, upvote and comment on other contributions.
Reminders:
The community description which you will find here, is a guide to the content that is welcome in the Silver Bloggers' Community. We will encourage folk who post content that doesn't jive, to find an alternative and more comfortable space in which to play.
and
To keep things fair: the same person (account) may not win twice in succession.
In summary, last edition's winner may enter, but the contribution, like those of the judges' panel, will not be eligible for a prize.

The contest closes at midnight GMT (also known as UTC) on Tuesday 25 January and the winners will be announced later the following week.
