Does anyone remember the movie The Curious case of Benjamin Button?
The story starts with Daisy, who on her deathbed tells her daughter Caroline about a blind clockmaker who was hired to make a clock for a train station, but the clock ran backward!
She asks her to read from the diary of Benjamin Button, who was born looking like an old man with all the ailments that old people have.
His mother had died during childbirth, and his father abandoned him at the entrance of a nursing home. He blended in with the elderly residents, needed a wheelchair to get around, but had the mind and curiosity of a child.
To cut a long and fabulous story short, he evolves from crutches to learning to walk and befriends seven-year-old Daisy; finds work in his twenties, but still has the appearance of an old man.
He eventually meets up with Daisy many years later, looking like a young man and they fall in love.
The story is much more complex, but Benjamin's age keeps on reversing and in the end, he retrogresses into infancy!
Fascinating movie, but makes one think about the circle of life!
So…you likely are wondering what this has to do with my Silvery name.
I did speak about it some time back when I wrote about Sassy Silver Names - Pick yours today.
Sooo guys and dolls, as an introduction this is Dizzy Silver-Blonde Lizzie here, the name I've chosen as my #silverbloggers name; sassy enough for you?
Trying to sound a little brighter for our #silverbloggers, I've decided to drop the Dizzy part, so you can simply call me Silver-Blond Lizzie when visiting here!
Much has happened since then here in the Silver Bloggers.
We acquired the services of two new Moderators, Silver Fish, and Silver Cat, both super-efficient I must add!
Silver Fish, has asked all Silver Bloggers a question: Why you Need to have This!? And the Way to get It...
Mine is very simply about evolving from infancy into a Silver Blond old gal who hopefully not need caring like Benjamin did in the end!
Born with a mop of golden blond hair, then as a teen, my hair became darker till I was a pucker brunette as a young adult, much to my disgust!
I started buying bottles of hair tint, desperate to be a blond again, and would often do this late at night when everyone was asleep. Hubby would not be surprised to wake up in the morning to a wife with different shades of blond next to him, depending on which hair tint was on special at the time ;)
That was until I tried a new tint that one had to do a time trial with on a small strand of hair, as the longer you left it on, the lighter your hair became.
I did this and the trial was the perfect shade of blond, but...being a dizzy Lizzie at times, I decided to have a bath while the colour was developing and put a shower cap on. Of course, this only accelerated the process!
When I stepped out of the bath and took the shower cap off, I was a pure platinum blond!
Hubby's eyes nearly popped out of his head the next morning!
Many years later when some silvergrey strands started popping out, I had my hair highlighted, until one day when I decided to let it all grow out and become au-natural!
So that is the story of how Silver-Blond Lizzie was born; started life off as a golden-blond but ended up as a silver-blond!
Not quite like Benjamin Button, but just reminded me how we start life as a helpless babe and often end up needing someone to take care of us in our old age!
