It's just another day, like any other, relaxing on the back porch with my dog Mika. This young doe comes through the yard and she has a damage front leg causing her to have a bad limp. Yet, she made it through the winter just fine. I see here every few days along with last year's yearlings.
She stopped for a moment to scratch her ear before returning to the edge of the woods.
The birds are flying back and forth from birdhouse to feeders feeding their young ones. It is like being at an airport with all the activity every day.
The Baltimore Oriels are enjoying the sugar water in their feeder. Both male and female come two to three-times a day for a drink.
One of these days I will walk around and take photos of all the different houses and take a count of how many I have.
This Woodpecker is so large and yet it still manages to hang onto the suet cake, and boy can he eat a lot of it at one time.
This Woodpecker seemed interested in seeing what was inside this nesting box. The Sparrows had a fit and kept flying at him until he stopped pestering the box.
My favorite little bird, the House Wren has built a nest in the Limelight Hydrangea tree where I have a small house just for them. I love that they come back every spring and rear their young. Their little song just delights my soul.
A pair of Geese decided that my lawn was a nice place to hang out on for a few days. Unfortunately, they leave a lot of poo that has to be cleaned up, so Mika doesn't get into it. There is a small pond at the end of the cul-de-sac for water runoff, and they apparently built a nest there but like sunning in my yard.
I can't leave out the Squirrels, can I? I have a lot of them along with plenty of Chipmunks too. Here are three young ones playing together at the edge of the property. They are too funny the way they chase up and down the trees and run across the lawn so fast to keep out of Mika's reach.
This is her favorite position on the porch, sitting, waiting for a chance to chase them out of the yard. It makes her day to be the lawn patrol. ♥
Every day the frog appears from the rocks around the pond and patiently awaits a flying insect for a snack. Mika loves to investigate her every time she spots it sitting on the rocks.
Today it decided to rain, once again! So, I think it is a good day to clean out a closet since it is too damp for "back porch sitting". Have a great weekend everyone. ♥
