Hello Hello to the Hive and the Silver Bloggers amongst us!
Hurry Hurry people today is actually the last day to post about celebrations in this month's #BOM to celebrate the first anniversary of the Silver Bloggers community.
First up this is my out-of-competition post for the Silver Bloggers community #BOM, which this month is about Celebrations, note the deadline is today May 9th at midnight UTC. For more information on what to write and what to win etc , have a gander at the original post We are One: Happy Birthday to Us!.
Second up as this contest is to celebrate the first anniversary of the Silver Bloggers Community, I just want to thank everybody involved in SB, from the founder to every reader thank you all.
I love all you Silvers and I first want to thank @lizelle Silver Blond Lizzie who got the ball rolling and made a home for us all and of course I have to thank the other amazing admin @fionasfavourites Silver Flower for giving me my Silver name and dragging me to be a part of this awesome wee team!
Talking about the team, I would like to also thank the equally mad as me @mondoshawan Silverfish and the wonderful cat l... @coquicoin Silver Cat for all the help and support! (Yes I remembered I volunteered to cook us all a Chicken Dinner @coquicoin !)
Celebrations for me have changed throughout the years. My father was an only child and my mother had one sister. Both sisters had three kids, so Christmas celebrations were always with my grandparents. They lived in Fife in Scotland and we could be all over the UK, so it would mean a family drive for a few hours or even a ferry if we were coming from the Orkney Islands. All a jolly time.
Weddings and parties were drink fuelled and I drank my fair share all over the world.
Now I am a firm believer of living in the now. The more Silver I become the more I adopt a laissez-faire attitude, for me now I celebrate every day that I wake up.
It is a bit like my thinking that Mother's Day should be celebrated everyday by treating your mother like you would like to be treated!
So living in the now and celebrating means waiting for May 18th 2022.
My team Rangers Football Club were founded in 1872 i.e. 150 years ago.❤️🤍💙
We last won a European Trophy in Spain in 1972 i.e. 50 years ago.
We have beaten some great teams along the way and qualified to play in the Final of the Europa league which will be held in Sevilla on May 18th.
We have beaten the team that is second in the German league, the team that is fourth in the German league and now play the team that is 12th in the league. We have been the underdogs in every round and been no chance at all, yet we are the top scorers in the competition.
Now what does this have to do with celebrating...
In 2008 we actually got to the final which was held in Manchester, I along with two hundred and fifty thousand Rangers fans descended on Manchester. We lost the game but I celebrated by buying a blue Ford Ranger pickup truck!
Yep I was mad then too!
This is a brief vid of how we made won the second leg of the semifinal and the Celebrations that ensued.
Covid has changed things here tremendously. Normally I would have either gone to the ground or watched these games at the pub, however I watched at home with family and friends.
We played three games at the beginning of the campaign where I drank alcohol and we did not do that great.
Since then I watched each game eating a Southern Fried Chicken and chips takeaway and celebrated with drinking coffee!
I got superstitous...
So I shall be watching the final whilst drinking coffee and having that same chicken dinner takeaway!
If we win then who knows what the celebration will be!
This European campaign we have had a motto which I love... It is simply...
MAKE US DREAM
Thank you for reading and thank you for visiting this wonderful community.
