Blog of the Month theme for March ~ March 2017 the winter that marched on and on and on

March madness, came in the way of a wintery month as snow and freezing temperatures had all life hunkered down. By the 14th of March over three feet of snow had fallen within a 48-hour period.
The only exit out of the six exterior doors that weren't blocked by the mountain of snow was the front door. Thank goodness this access door lies under our porch, otherwise, we would have been exiting through a window.

Winter is long enough here in Upstate New York, and this storm would guarantee that Winter would be around for the first couple of weeks of Spring.

Without a snow blower, I think we would have been stranded for days. Removing the snow from atop the cars, clearing the driveway, and shoveling the walkways took several days.

The beard also came in handy, keeping me warm, along with half a dozen layers of clothing.

The snow piled on the roof of the wishing well told the story of the direction of the wind.

Upon completing this task I decided to use the snow blower to make some paths around the property.

These paths, now void of snow, would allow us to get out and about. Cabin fever wouldn't add to the madness that March had already unveiled.

Snow stuck to the sides of trees, being hurled there by the snow blower.

Earlier on in this harsh month of March, it snowed nearly every day and there was no escaping it, even while making syrup.

Trees were uprooted, nine of them in total, with this one nearly falling on one of the cabins.

Trees taken down by #Mother #Nature usually spells F I R E W O O D, but in this case, the howling winds uprooted these two pine trees which don't make for burning indoors.

But, another ornament for the yard might be cool.

A few days after this storm had passed and snow removal was completed, we got outside to bask in the sunlight. A card game, Crazy Eights, and a few cocktails put March Madness in the review mirror.

Even though I was getting my arse kicked in Crazy Eights, @farm-mom had me smiling with her gloating over the fact she was winning a little side bet on the game.

If I remember correctly the bet was for a foot rub or something like that.

One thing you didn't have to worry about was keeping your mug nice and frosty.

Gloating, rejoicing, bragging, crowing, boasting, Robin was doing it all.
