Sometimes, I wonder what things would look like if humans had power over some things in the world. Being able to control the weather was one of the things that played in my head as a child, the idea came from watching X-Men animations and while thinking about this topic, I thought about humans being able to control seasons.
It would have been something beautiful since we will be able to switch to what we need at a particular time but I can tell it would end up with regrets. This ability would eventually turn into something disastrous, it would be as bad as humans using it to inflict pain on one another. For me, choosing between seasons is quite difficult because we need both rainy and dry seasons to live comfortably in the world.
A lot of things depend on these seasons, there is a time when we need rain in abundance and dryness as well, it would be impossible for us to survive with just one for the rest of our lives. I love the cold season more which means more rain and yet, seeing the rain pour continuously makes me sad.
It's been raining consecutively for three days now and my siblings had to miss school once this week because they school outside the neighborhood and getting a bike was an issue. Bad roads are our biggest challenge here and coupling that with the price of petroleum means we have to pay more than the usual fare just to get in and out of the community. I am certain this isn't just a problem at my end, a lot of people struggle to move around when it rains because of the good works of our government.
Yes, the rain helps our farm produce, nature looks beautiful but these things aren't enough for us to survive.
Thinking about the homeless when it rains ruins my mood, I always try to prevent the pictures from coming up in my head but it's just impossible. People live in the marketplace, under bridges and even on the waterside, life becomes really unbearable for them when it rains and it would be terrible of me to put what I think is best for me first not minding the negative effect of it on others.
The dry season definitely comes with lots of challenges for me, I don't feel comfortable both physically and mentally during that season. A lot of people know how unproductive I can be when the weather is too hot but still, choosing only the rain will come with a huge price for a lot of people. Although the prompt requires us to choose one season but by the power vested in me, I will choose both.
The truth remains that we need both the rainy and dry season. If one of the seasons wasn't necessary, even the Almighty God wouldn't have created them. Away from the debate, these seasons teach me a vital lesson I have always held closely to my heart.
There are always two sides to everything in life, I don't want to use the term "good or bad" so I will say favourable and unfavourable. Life can't be always good, there will definitely be bad days but we have to live through them if we want to see the better days again. Dry season is inevitable so we just have to cope and embrace it whenever it comes. When it's time for the rain, we can enjoy it in abundance as well.
