Building or Buying a House?

Human beings have basic needs, and one of them is a house. Sometimes, when it comes to owning a house, some people are indecisive about which option to go for: either to buy an already-built house or build one for themselves from scratch. The two options are great, but in this post, I will share my perspective on which option I prefer and why.

For anyone desiring to own a house, there are some important factors you may need to consider. Factors like location, your budget, the design of the house you aspire to live in, how spacious you want your rooms and other parts of the house to be, and so on

Buying a house

Buying a house is usually a more expensive option, although it's less stressful and saves time. You don't need to chase after any worker or engineer you employ to do their work and meet your estimated delivery date. You will also escape being a victim of stolen building materials from the site, as seen on different building sites. My husband is a civil engineer, so when it comes to building, I have some first-hand experience of what happens at most building sites.

However, if you are considering buying a house, you may also be at risk of facing inferior building materials used for the building, which you may not detect by physical inspection. You also do not know how strong and reinforced the foundation of the building is. You may have some special settings you want in a particular area of your house to have that you might not easily get in an already-built house. But then, there are still pretty designs in a built house you can buy; there are still good houses out there with strong foundations, especially when you consult a trustworthy developer, but they all come at a higher cost. Overall, buying a house has its disadvantages and advantages, but for someone with plenty of money who wouldn't mind the cost, buying a house is pretty less stressful and nice.

Building a house

For this option, if you have time and are ready to supervise your building, you can go from scratch to the finishing stage. Building a house is cheaper but more stressful, with a prolonged time to finish depending on when the user wants it. Here, you are sure of the quality of materials that go into the building; there is no room for compromise. You are also sure of how solid the foundation is, and thus, you have peace of mind. You have the opportunity to incorporate any kind of design you want into your home, etc.

Which do I prefer?

From my above explanation, you will understand that both options have advantages and disadvantages. However, I prefer to build my house from scratch and employ an experienced engineer who will give me what I want, thereby reducing the stress that comes with building projects. With this, I am sure of the quality I want in a house, and of course, this option is cheaper even though it takes longer.

Thank you for reading my thoughts and choices on this. Let me know in the comment section which option you prefer and why.
