Introduction.

Hello Naijians, how are you guys?

I hope this meets you well.

This is my entry into this week's prompt, kindly have a read.

Childhood was a fun filled period with countless beautiful memories regretes. In our innocence, we did lots of dump things that when we remember them, we are either smile, feel ashamed, sad or regrateful.

Then, we played on sand, cooked with sand and without fire. In this post, I will write about the dumbest of them all.

The Dumbest Thing I Did As a Child.

Growing up, I played around so much with Friends, especially, Chibike of blessed memory. Chibike and his family lived in a building not up to one pole away from where I lived with my family. The two buildings are located in same compound.

At that time, we lived opposite a government secondary school. This school has many classrooms, play grounds and about 4 standard football fields. The school is not fenced, so after school, we go into the premises to play, (both on the field, trees and in the classrooms). After playing, we usually go to a river behind the school to bath and swim.

One faithful day, after school, we went out to play as usual, but the owner of the ball said both me and Chibike will not be selected to play his bal else, he will go home with his ball. This was because we had a thought the previous day and Chibike was in my support.

So, I ran home to bring my ludo, so that we can play with other friends who were not also playing for one reason or the other. We were settled indide one classroom playing the game, at a point, Chibike my friend and neighbor was eliminated from the game. So he stepped out to ease himself. When be returned. When he returned, he was already blowing a brownlike "balloon." I enquired of where he got it he said he just picked it from one curner of the next classroom. When I was also eliminated, I collected the balloon and continued my play with it.

Much later, a much senior neighbor, who was in the university then, who normally comes to school to read was going home when he saw me and the balloon, he shouted at me, telling me to throw the balloon away. He also made sure he destroyed it.

It took many years before I realized what the "balloon" we were playing with was, it was a condom. 😭😭😭

I have not stopped beating-up myself for that. I have ways blamed Chibike for that, because, I think that if he had not gone outside the classroom to pick the "balloon," I wouldn't have had contact with not neighther will I be feeling this way each time I remember the incident.

Conclusion.

The people that dropped that condom must be adults, who may have sneaked into the school at an odd hour and made_out with each other, but failed to dispose the condom properly.
I believe we are not the only victims of this as children. Now that we are adults, if we make use of a condom, we should try to dispose them properly so as to forestall this sort of urgly occurances.

This event and many others I had withnessed have made me believe that God had assigned special Angels that protect and guard children.

You must have read where I used "blessed memory" to refer to Chibike. That's because Chibike died about 10 years ago as a result of complications after a failed appendicitis operation.
May God continue to rest his soul. Amen.

However, I thank God that we did not contact any serious disease or infection from the contact we had with the "balloon".. so I believe.

Thank you for visiting and reading through my blog.

I do appreciate all your comments and votes.

Am grateful.
