This post has been inspired by three separate thoughts that have come together in my noddle this week to spark a new idea for growing my Hive Power and encouraging Red Fish and Minnows to keep on blogging...
For all the talk about getting more people on board the Hive blockchain, what I see is a lot of neglected Hivers whose blog posts get zero attention and hardly any upvotes. Surely, if we were serious about getting more people to engage with Hive we would do more to support the Red Fish and Minnows who post interesting content...
During the busy times when I'm offline a lot and too tired to be very creative when I get back home, I want an easy way to keep earning HIVE without having to create content. The obvious ways to do that are (1) Splinterlands (somehow, one is never "too tired" to play "just another game" of Splinterlands. LOL!) (2) Upvoting and (3) Commenting on other people's content.
Yesterday, @taskmaster4450 published a blog post in which he showed how we could generate a return on our HIVE Power of over 12% p/a. He got that figure by combining the 3.09% annual interest rate that HP earns with an additional 8.94% that can be earned by content curation, SPECIFICALLY by UPVOTING 10 POSTS A DAY.
Here's Taskmaster's blog post:

If you check the comments you'll see that I asked Taskmaster for clarification, and it seems that "10 x 100% upvotes a day" would be enough to boost your annual interest rate from 3% to 12%.
That got me thinking!
Upvoting 10 "NEW" Red-Fish/Minnow Hive Posts A Day
I put those three ideas together and came up with the idea of making a positive intention to upvote 10 NEW and GOOD QUALITY posts by RedFish/Minnow Hivers every day
Switching From "Trending" to "New"
I search for new posts on https://hive.blog/ and the way to do that is to switch the default "Trending" setting to "New" in the dropdown menu at the top of the page.
Maybe my upvotes won't earn as much as if I focused exclusively on upvoting "trending" posts by the established Hivers, but my upvotes will at least reward those who are just starting out on their Hive journey when earning power is weak and rewards are meagre.
Sharing The Best Of What I Discover
I will also share a selection of the posts that I upvote, the ones that resonated most with me for whatever reason. And that is what the rest of this blog post is about...
It would be great if you joined me in upvoting and commenting on any of these posts that take your fancy. It might be the first time that these bloggers have had such a big response and could make a BIG and positive impression on them and encourage them to keep on posting. There is nothing quite like NOT being ignored when you post content on Hive...
Not that everybody whose post I update is ignored. Some are minnows who are already building a following. The key parameter for me is that the post is "NEW" and not "TRENDING" (yet).
Some of My Recent RedFish/Minnow Discoveries
(1) Upvoted. I enjoyed this post and photos by @sensiblecast about getting up at some ungodly hour to go rowing in Manila bay. @sensiblecast/manila-bay-point-of-view-from-the-other-side-or-monday-landscape-photofeed-contest-42
(2) Upvoted. @pollyreid shares some photos of a recent trip to Transylvania in Romania, an up-and-coming country from what I've been reading recently... There's a lot of historical architecture to see, and (if my impression is correct) a buzzing new vibe as well.

(3) Upvoted and Commented. I keep my eyes open for "Introductory Posts" and this one by Nigerian Zoology student @mariehayes attracted my attention:

(4) Upvoted and Commented. @sammyhive has been blogging for a while and is part of the #ALIVE community. In this and some of his other posts he reports on his neighbourhood environmental clean up activities. That's something I have often THOUGHT about, but never actually got around to DOING, so hats off to him for taking action:

(5) Upvoted. Okay, I saved this one till last, but it's the one that made the biggest impression on me. It's an #introduceyourself post by a young German-speaker, @aren-san who has provided a dual-text (German-English) self introduction in which he talks about his passion for astronomy and stargazing through a telescope.
As it is a nocturnal activity, it seems that his mother does not entirely approve!
I enjoyed reading the German version, with the English translation close by so I could cross-check whenever unfamiliar words or phrases came up. Check it out:

Okay folks, that's it for my first '10 upvotes a day for "NEW" Hive Content' curation post.
Cheers!
