How I Make My Signature Popcorn - Step by Step

Warm greetings all! 🙏 💚

Last night I had a snack craving, so I decided to make my signature popcorn that I've made, in different iterations, for years now. This version has been pretty consistent for the past few years, as it is such a great combo, that most people seem to love. It's a flavor explosion in your mouth! All ingredients used are organic.

I popped this batch in a pot with coconut oil, though it can also be popped in an air popper. That's actually my preferred method of popping popcorn, but I don't presently have one available, so I use what I have. If done in a pot, the oil should almost be covering the kernels. I only use unrefined coconut oil.

Once the popcorn kernels and the oil are added, I put a top on the pot so that heat can build up so the popcorn doesn't go flying everywhere once it starts popping. I use a gas burner, and the flame should medium-low to start. I turn it up a small bit once the kernels begin popping, and usually turn it back to the original medium-low once the popping begins to slow.

Once fully popped, it's time to mix in the other ingredients. I usually use a large round metal bowl to mix the popcorn with the various ingredients, though today I only had a small plastic tub available.

While the popcorn is still warm, I mix in unrefined coconut oil using a large spoon, until evenly coated.

When the coconut oil added, it's time for extra virgin olive oil. I drizzle it on the popcorn, then mix it again well with the spoon until evenly coated.

Once the two oils are added and mixed evenly, I add fine pink Himalayan sea salt, a bit at a time, while tossing the popcorn for several rounds each time I add more. I get the salt to the proper level, making sure that it is evenly mixed.

*After getting the salt where I like it, it's time to add the spices. I use nutritional yeast, garlic granules/powder, onion granules/powder, curry powder, cayenne powder, smoked paprika, finely ground black pepper, and dill weed.

I toss the popcorn until the spices are evenly coating the kernels.

When I have the spices mixed thoroughly, the popcorn is ready to eat, and I put it in a bowl to enjoy and share.

If kept in a sealed plastic bag, the popcorn will stay fresh for days. It makes a great quick delicious snack, like at the beach today. 😁

Thank you all so much for allowing me to share more of the beauty and magic from my life and my world with you, and for your continuous appreciation and support! I am deeply grateful! 🙏 💚
