Hello friends, welcome to my blog, it is a pleasure to participate again in this wonderful contest of the Cinetv community, this time they are sports movies and I will talk about a film that was released in 2013, "42", it is the dramatized film and bibliography that tells us about the beginning of one of the greatest baseball legends, Jackie Robinson, who was the first African-American to play in the major leagues for the Brooklyn Dodgers team in the national league. This film has a special meaning for me because I saw it at a time when I was going through a difficult personal situation and it was an inspiration to move forward.
Hola amigos, bienvenidos a mi blog, es un placer volver a participar en este maravilloso concurso de la comunidad Cinetv, en esta oportunidad son películas deportivas y les hablaré de una cinta que fue estrenada en 2013, “42”, es la película dramatizada y bibliográfica que nos cuenta el comienzo de uno de las leyendas más grande el beisbol, Jackie Robinson, quien fuera el primer afroamericano en jugar las grandes ligas en el equipo de los Brooklyn Dodgers, de la liga nacional. Esta película tiene un especial significado para mí porque la vi en un momento en que, pasaba una situación personal difícil y fue una inspiración para salir adelante.
The film was directed and written by Brian Hegeland, with a cast headed by: Chadwick Boseman, Harrison Ford, Nicole Beharie, Christopher Meloni, Alan Tudyk, Lucas Black, John C. McGinley, Ryan Merriman, Jud Tylor, T.R. Knight, Brett Cullen, Hamish Linklater, Toby Huss, Brad Beyer, Rhoda Griffis, Mark Harelik, among others. He tells us how after the war and serving bravely for the country, thousands of African-Americans felt despised for not having the same rights as white people, everything was separated and they were treated as second-class citizens. The film takes place between the end of 1946 and 1947. Jackie (Chadwick) played for an African-American league baseball team and they couldn't play in the white league. Until Branch Rickey, owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers, decided to hire him.
La cinta contó con la dirección y guion de Brian Hegeland, con un reparto encabezado por: Chadwick Boseman, Harrison Ford, Nicole Beharie, Christopher Meloni, Alan Tudyk, Lucas Black, John C. McGinley, Ryan Merriman, Jud Tylor, T.R. Knight, Brett Cullen, Hamish Linklater, Toby Huss, Brad Beyer, Rhoda Griffis, Mark Harelik, entre otros. Nos cuenta como luego de la guerra y servir valientemente por el país, miles de afroamericanos, se sintieron despreciados a no contar con los mismos derechos que las personas blancas, todo estaba separado y se les trataba como ciudadanos de segunda. La película se sitúa entre finales de 1946 y 1947. Jackie (Chadwick), jugaba para un equipo de beisbol de la liga de afroamericanos y estos no podían jugar en la liga de los blancos. Hasta que Branch Rickey, dueño de los Brooklyn Dodgers, decidió contratarlo.

I open a parenthesis, to talk to you, because this fact was important for me, as a woman sometimes we have to work in predominantly male places, in which we often receive offenses, disguised as jokes, due to the machismo of some men by not accepting our presence there, I lived it and in a certain way I felt identified with the character of Jackie, in that similar situation. Fortunately, although there are more chivalrous men today, you still find yourself with prejudiced people. I close parentheses. The film shows us how despite what we may feel, we must remain calm and demonstrate with our work that we are better and that we deserve to be where we are.
Jackie, tuvo que enfrentarse a no solo el racismo de la época, que constantemente lo insultaba cada vez que salía al campo a jugar, sino también a su carácter volátil para permanecer tranquilo a pesar de ello, cosa que por su natural personalidad no era fácil. Abro un paréntesis, para hablarles, porque este hecho fue importante para mí, como mujer a veces nos toca trabajar en lugares predominantemente masculinos, en los cuales muchas veces recibimos ofensas, disfrazadas de bromas, por el machismo de algunos hombres al no aceptar nuestra presencia allí, lo viví y en cierta manera me sentí identificada con el personaje de Jackie, en esa situación parecida. Afortunadamente, aunque hoy hay más hombres caballerosos, aún te encuentran con personas con prejuicios. Cierro paréntesis. La película nos muestra como a pesar de lo que podamos sentir, debemos mantener la calma y demostrar con nuestro trabajo que somos mejores y que merecemos estar donde estamos.
The film will not only tell us about racism, but also about friendship, courage, principles and fighting for dreams from a real perspective of what we have around us. Branch Rickey (Harrison) had to fight with the rules that were already written, but he put them in his favor, to help Robinson (Chadwick), to reach his potential. Jackie had to accept that the road would not be easy, but if he wanted to change things he would have to do it from within and to do so understand that the changes would not be overnight, but he would open the way for other African-American players who would come from behind. the. This is important because, in my case, I saw that I cannot change a person from his prejudices, although I can show him with my work that I have the same value as that person and even add more value.
La cinta no solo nos habrá del racismo, sino también de la amistad, el valor, los principios y el luchar por los sueños desde una perspectiva real de lo que tenemos alrededor. Branch Rickey (Harrison), tuvo que luchar con las reglas que ya estaban escritas, pero las coloco a su favor, para ayudar a Robinson (Chadwick), para alcanzar su potencial. Jackie tuvo que aceptar que el camino no sería fácil, pero si quería cambiar las cosas debería hacerlo desde adentro y para ello entender que los cambios no serian de un día para otro, pero él abriría el camino para otros jugadores afroamericanos que vinieran de tras de él. Esto es importante porque, en mi caso, vi que no puedo cambiar a una persona de sus prejuicios, aunque si puedo con mi trabajo demostrarle que tengo el mismo valor que esa persona e incluso aportar más valor.
It would be naive to think that Branch (Harrison) hired Robinson as a player just to give an African-American the opportunity to play in the big leagues, he did it for economic reasons, he realized the monetary potential that it would bring him in the ticket sales that the African-American community was joining to see a player of color. It wasn't just Robinson's talent in the game that motivated Branch, but his decision would unknowingly open up big changes for society and the sport. Robinson unknowingly at first became a hero to his community and opened doors for others. The unusual friendship for the time that ultimately brought these two men together changed baseball history forever. Stories like these are inspiring, because we interpolate them into our current life and realize that, although sometimes due to the prejudice of others, they can make us want to give up our dreams and it must be the opposite, give us strength to fight and win our place.
Sería ingenuo pensar que Branch (Harrison), contrato a Robinson como jugador solo para darle oportunidad a un afroamericano de jugar en las grandes ligas, lo hizo por razones económicas, se dio cuenta del potencial monetario que le traería en las ventas de boletos que la comunidad afroamericana se incorporaba a ver a un jugador de color. No solo era el talento de Robinson en el juego lo que motivo a Branch, pero su decisión abriría sin saberlo grandes cambios para sociedad y el deporte. Robinson, sin saberlo, al principio se convirtió en un héroe para su comunidad y abrió las puertas para otros. La inusual amistad para ese tiempo que al final unió a estos dos hombres, cambiaron la historia del beisbol para siempre. Historias como estas son inspiradoras, porque la interpolamos a nuestra vida actual y nos damos cuentas que, aunque a veces por prejuicios de otros, pueden hacer que queramos renunciar a nuestros sueños, y debe ser a contrario, darnos fuerzas para luchar y ganar nuestro lugar.
Finally, for me this film touches a lot of nerves, throughout my life I have dealt with machismo, the fact that others consider me too young for a position and other prejudices. In each step I have shown with my work that I am worth to perform the position. Robinson faced many more things than me, in each one he showed his immense talent and even today he is considered one of the best players of all time, with records that few reach. The number 42 was retired from baseball forever, due to his enormous contribution to the sport. For me this film, if it is not the best, is one of the best sports and inspiration films. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
Finalmente, para mí esta cinta toca muchas fibras, a lo largo de mi vida he lidiado con el machismo, el que otros me consideren muy joven para un cargo y otros prejuicios. En cada paso he demostrado con mi trabajo que valgo para desempeñar el puesto. Robinson se enfrentó a muchas cosas más que yo, en cada una demostró su inmenso talento y aun hoy es considerado uno de los mejores jugadores de todos los tiempos, con récords que pocos alcanzan. El número 42 fue retirado del beisbol para siempre, por su enorme contribución al deporte. Para mí esta película, si no es la mejor, es una de las mejores cintas de deporte e inspiración.
