Maybe I'm coming a little late, but I want to talk about the kings of the world. A Colombian film that honestly impressed me a lot, and from the depths of my being, it pains me that this film is not talked about more. It is a great experience that, I think, goes under the table because the Latin films that reach a large audience are always either Mexican or Argentinean, without giving time to other great works from other countries.
Tal vez esté llegando un poco tarde, pero quiero hablar sobre los reyes del mundo. Una película colombiana que sinceramente me impresionó mucho, y que desde lo profundo de mi ser, me duele que no se hable más sobre esta película. Es una experiencia grandiosa que, creo, pasa por debajo de la mesa debido a que las películas latinas que llegan a un gran público siempre son o mexicanas o argentinas, sin darle tiempo a otras grandes obras de otros países.
I also understand that I also sin of this, because when I thought of seeing a Colombian film the first thing that crossed my mind was the low quality that this would have, however, I could not be more wrong because the amount of shots so beautifully structured combine perfectly with performances that feel so natural (I think, in fact, it's because they didn't use actors) that you can't help but get immersed in something that would be a road movie with tinges of coming of age that flows perfectly between a great friendship and a Colombian reality that sometimes is beautiful in terms of landscapes and people and other times is horrible for the same reasons.
Entiendo también que yo también peco de esto, debido a que cuando pensé en ver una película colombiana lo primero que pasó por mi mente fue la baja calidad que esta tendría, sin embargo, no pude estar más equivocado ya que la cantidad de planos tan hermosamente estructurados combinan a la perfección con unas actuaciones que se sienten tan naturales (creo, de hecho, que es porque no usaron actores) que no puedes más que caer inmerso en algo que sería una road movie con tintes de coming of age que fluye perfecto entre una gran amistad y una realidad colombiana que a veces es preciosa en cuanto a paisajes y personas y otras veces es horrible por las mismas razones.
According to Wikipedia, the drama is about five teenage friends who live on the streets. As a result, they leave a Colombian city to start over in the countryside". Honestly, being a road movie, if it can be summed up that way, since most movies of this style are basically about going from point "A" to point "B" suffering in that journey events that can be good or bad for its protagonists. In the case of The Kings of the World, the film does not err on the side of showing pure decadence and plays very well between the good things that happen to its protagonists (along with a joy that is contagious when you see the chemistry that the group of teenagers have) and the tragedies that obviously suffer any person in that situation and more in a Latin country, making the film feel like the legacy left by several great films in Latin history such as Los olvidados

Sinceramente, siendo una road movie, si se puede resumir así, ya que la mayoría de las películas de este estilo son básicamente ir de un punto “A” a un punto “B” sufriendo en ese trayecto acontecimientos que pueden ser buenos o malos para sus protagonistas. En el caso de Los reyes del mundo, la película no peca de mostrar pura decadencia y juega muy bien entre las cosas buenas que les pasan a sus protagonistas (junto con una alegría que se contagia al ver la química que tiene el grupo de adolescentes) y las tragedias que obviamente sufre cualquier persona en esa situación y más en un país latino, haciendo que la película se sienta como el legado que han dejado varias grandes películas en la historia latina como Los olvidados
Seriously, if with this you are still not curious to see the film, I ask you to watch the trailer to understand a little of the marvelous work that is The Kings of the World, and, in this particular case, we have the facility that is distributed by Netflix, being then a great Latin film that is also available to many, to support Latin cinema and without speaking of geography, to support the sensory and emotional cinema, cinema as an expression of art.
En serio, si con esto aún no tienen una curiosidad por ver la película, les pido que vean el tráiler para así entender un poco la maravilla de obra que es Los reyes del mundo, y, en este caso en particular, tenemos la facilidad de que está distribuida por Netflix, siendo entonces una gran película latina que además está al alcance de muchos, para así apoyar el cine latino y sin hablar de geografía, apoyar el cine sensorial y emotivo, el cine como una expresión de arte.
