For quite a while I've had the illusion the maybe the Democratic party could still be saved. When Bernie Sanders had the success he had in 2016 and the last primaries of 2019 and 2020 many progressives like myself finally saw some light at the end of a long dark tunnel. But the way the DNC betrayed Sanders and the millions of working class people who supported him with small dollar donations, in both those elections, took that light away.

Sanders and the new young progressives like AOC and others from the Justice Democrats movement gained popularity after decades of staunch neoliberal ruling from the Democratic party. Not just the Democratic party in America, but many left wing political parties all over the developed world, stopped being the traditional representatives of working people in the early to mid 1990s. This move of the traditional labor parties towards the right was known as the "Third Way":
The Third Way is a political philosophy and political position akin to centrism that attempts to reconcile right-wing and left-wing politics by advocating a varying synthesis of centre-right and centrist economic platforms with some centre-left social policies. The Third Way was created as a re-evaluation of political policies within various centre-left progressive movements in response to doubt regarding the economic viability of the state and the overuse of economic interventionist policies that had previously been popularised by Keynesianism, but which at that time contrasted with the rise of popularity for neoliberalism and the New Right starting in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s.

So there you have it, the political and economic evolution that erased almost all essential differences between left and right, between the Democrats and the Republicans. In my country, The Netherlands it was Prime Minister Wim Kok who presided over two so called "purple coalitions" from 1994 until 2002. To explain, here in The Netherlands the color red is associated with the left wing labor party, and blue with the right wing conservatives, exactly the opposite of what Americans are familiar with. Like I've said many times before, in America it was Bill Clinton who introduced this Third Way:
In the United States, Third Way adherents embrace fiscal conservatism to a greater extent than traditional economic liberals, advocate some replacement of welfare with workfare and sometimes have a stronger preference for market solutions to traditional problems (as in pollution markets) while rejecting pure laissez-faire economics and other libertarian positions. The Third Way style of governing was firmly adopted and partly redefined during the administration of President Bill Clinton.

And in the U.K. Tony Blair spearheaded this experiment, this reaction to people all over the world buying the capitalist lies that were first popularized under Reagan and Thatcher in the 1980s:
Former Prime Minister Tony Blair is cited as a Third Way politician. According to a former member of Blair's staff, Blair and the Labour Party learnt from and owes a debt to Bob Hawke's government in Australia in the 1980s on how to govern as a Third Way party. Blair wrote in a Fabian pamphlet in 1994 of the existence of two prominent variants of socialism, namely one based on a Marxist–Leninist economic determinist and collectivist tradition and the other being an ethical socialism based on values of "social justice, the equal worth of each citizen, equality of opportunity, community".

As you can see, dear reader, this Third Way was introduced almost simultaneously in many leading western countries, almost as if it was orchestrated by some invisible hand... Well, if you're a regular here you should already know there is no invisible hand, just the 1% who own the multinational corporations and banks; they are the ones responsible for literally buying the politicians and playing them like puppets on a string. Also it's around that time, the early and mid 1990s, when that whole social justice ordeal began, not as a sinister conspiracy by Marxist professors, but left wing parties who no longer could distinguish themselves from their right wing counterparts in the field of economics, as they wholly embraced the failed ideologies of unfettered free market capitalism and globalism. The New World Order is a capitalist invention by the world's biggest capitalists, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Now, to focus on America again, the current headquarters of capitalist globalism; America needs a new political party, just like I've said in my most recent posts. The way the DNC has snubbed the nascent progressive wing within their party was the straw that broke the camel's back; there's no hope that this party will ever return to being the one that at least marginally, or even just rhetorically, takes care of poor, working class or otherwise marginalized people. America needs a third party that at least has a chance to challenge the Republicans and the Democrats, and that work starts now. This is the other Third Way I was referring to in this post's title; a philosophy and politics based on truth and a return to politicians who understand that they work for the people instead of the other way around. On August 30 2020 the Movement for a People's Party will live-stream the "People's Convention"; watch the video for more information...
