Artificial Polemic

When will Republicans wake up? All through my politically conscious life they've been trapped in a nightmarish alternative reality in which they're assaulted from every direction, but mainly from their left, by imagined and manufactured monsters that are out to destroy them, their progeny, their country and everything else they hold dear, even Christmas...

Now I wouldn't have a problem with this were it not that they drag all of us into their feverish nightmare. Also, I can't help but feel sorry for them every time they're duped by their own ideological leaders who, time after time again introduce them to some new enemy at the gates. These so called leaders exploit their supporters for their money, their votes and the power they so eagerly need to gain or preserve. It's a sick game in which conservatives are made to feel powerless and powerful at the same time; powerless because the enemies aren't real and therefore can never be defeated, powerful because these imagined foes are something to unite against, and there's always power in numbers. But the real power is always harvested by the leaders, the ones who sow the targeted discontent, and it's so damn infuriating and heartbreaking to see the conservative masses fall for each and every ruse...

Why They Don't Let Sam Seder On CNN Anymore (VIDEO)

Remember the "War on Christmas"? Sure you do; it returns every year in some form. Every year the highly important discussion around the use of "merry Christmas" versus "happy holidays" is reignited by some right wing hacks from the evangelical Republican base. Watch the above linked video on that subject; it's hilarious, but sad. The woke progressive army was invading their religious and cultural space during the "Satanic Panic" in the 1980s, and that's just one of the Satanist conspiracy theories of their making. My God, the news was recently dominated by nonsensical topics such as the gender of a plastic toy in the "Potato Head Controversy", and the voluntary retraction of some of the children's books of Dr. Seuss was decried as "cancellation" by devious Cultural Marxists. The latest addition to the manufactured army of communist threats is Critical Race Theory, an obscure academic term that most of its hysterical opponents on the political right (or left for that matter) can't even define.

Dear Republicans, your outrage against CRT is manufactured. You're letting your good mood be destroyed by the leaders you hold dear for no other reason than their lust for power. Power over you. You're being played like puppets. The outrage against CRT is carefully crafted and purposefully planted as a modern version of Red-baiting. Here's the content of a tweet and a follow-up by one of the puppeteers on whose strings you're dancing right now:

We have successfully frozen their brand - "critical race theory" - into the public conversation and are steadily driving up negative perceptions. We will eventually turn it toxic, as we put all of the various cultural insanities under that brand category. The goal is to have the public read something crazy in the newspaper and immediately think "critical race theory." We have decodified the term and will recodify it to annex the entire range of cultural constructions that are unpopular with Americans.

That message os from March 15, 2021, and it seems they've succeeded, once again, to garner the anger of conservatives against progressives. And they've done it so damn fast as well. This can be seen, for example, in the fast diminishing popularity of the Black Lives Matter movement in America. I can't stress enough how all this is a consequence of late stage capitalism. When the overarching ideology teaches nothing but individualism and competition, there are no policies to unite we, the people, around the common goal of making life better for everyone. All that's left to unite the people is an enemy to fight against. It's so sad, but America's last president for ALL Americans was George W. Bush, and that was solely because of the most terrible terrorist attack on American soil. Since then, Republicans have only managed to come into power by demonizing their domestic political adversaries, starting with the Barack Obama citizenship conspiracy theories. It's sad and frightening and infuriating to behold. But sometimes we can all laugh about it, starting with the below linked video.
