Salir a despejar la mente y tener un tiempo de distracción entre nuestras actividades prioritarias, como trabajar y estudiar, es importante. El tiempo a solas con nosotros mismos es importante, pero compartir el tiempo con amigos también es igual de importante y, en ocasiones, solemos olvidarnos de esto último. Hoy nuevamente me uno al Concurso Semanal de la Comunidad Ladies of Hive para contestar la siguiente pregunta:
¿Cuándo fue la última vez que realmente saliste a pasar el día y disfrutaste de estar con amigos y hacer algo divertido que querías hacer?
Going out to clear our minds and have some distraction time between our priority activities, such as work and study, is important. Time alone with ourselves is important, but sharing time with friends is just as important, and sometimes we tend to forget about the latter. Today I am again joining the Ladies of Hive Weekly Community Contest to answer the following question:
When was the last time you really went out for the day and enjoyed being with friends and doing something fun that you wanted to do?.

Ahora que me tomo el tiempo para reflexionar sobre esto me doy cuenta de que ha pasado mucho tiempo desde la última vez que salí con amigos a hacer algo divertido. Las salidas más recientes han sido con mi grupo de amigas de la Universidad y sólo hemos ido a comer a algún lado o a tomarnos un café y a pesar de que estas han sido las salidas más recientes, realmente fueron como hace unos cinco meses atrás (o tal vez más)...
No es que no disfrute los Momentos Foodie con mis amigas, realmente me encantan, pero quizás para muchos esto no sea algo tan divertido porque si nos enfocamos en algo realmente divertido creo que tendremos que retroceder mucho más atrás en el tiempo, incluso antes de que comenzara la pandemia. A finales de 2019 fue que tuve la última salida con amigos para hacer algo que realmente disfruté: escalar. En aquella oportunidad fuimos a las muy conocidas Cuevas del Indio a escalar en roca y casualmente fuimos porque uno de nuestros amigos estaba de cumpleaños, así que el plan era ir desde temprano a escalar y luego ir a casa de este amigo a preparar un almuerzo especial y su debida torta de cumpleaños. Ese es el último recuerdo divertido que tengo haciendo una actividad que me gusta en compañía de amigos porque después de eso la pandemia llegó y el estilo de vida de muchos cambió.
Now that I take the time to reflect on this I realize that it has been a long time since I last went out with friends to do something fun. The most recent outings have been with my group of girlfriends from college and we've only gone out to eat somewhere or grab a coffee and even though these have been the most recent outings, they were really like five months ago (or maybe more)....
It's not that I don't enjoy Foodie Moments with my girlfriends, I really love them, but maybe for many this is not such a fun thing because if we focus on something really fun I think we will have to go back much further in time, even before the pandemic started. It was at the end of 2019 that I had the last outing with friends to do something I really enjoyed: climbing. On that occasion we went to the very well known Cuevas del Indio for rock climbing and coincidentally we went because one of our friends had a birthday, so the plan was to go early in the morning to climb and then go to this friend's house to prepare a special lunch and his due birthday cake. That is the last fun memory I have doing an activity I like in the company of friends because after that the pandemic came and the lifestyle of many changed.
Durante los casi dos años de cuarentena no vi tan seguido a mis amigos (evidentemente) y mucho menos tuve la oportunidad de escalar. Luego, cuando todo retornó "a la normalidad" las cosas fueron un poco distintas, las responsabilidades de adultos jóvenes tomaron mucha más prioridad y entre el trabajo y los estudios que nos mantienen a todos ocupados, las reuniones para festejar cumpleaños y fechas importantes como Navidad pasaron un poco a segundo plano, ¡y ni hablar de los planes para ir a escalar en grupo!
Esto me da un poco de nostalgia, pero a veces creo que así es la vida en la ciudad: ocupada. Sobretodo en una ciudad de un país tan complicado como Venezuela. La cuestión es que aunque ya no vea tan seguido a mis amigos, siempre nos mantenemos en contacto para saber si todo está bien.
During the almost two years of quarantine I didn't see my friends as often (evidently) and much less had the opportunity to climb. Then, when everything returned "to normal" things were a bit different, young adult responsibilities took a much higher priority and between work and studies that keep us all busy, gatherings to celebrate birthdays and important dates like Christmas took a bit of a back seat, not to mention plans to go climbing as a group!
This makes me a little nostalgic, but sometimes I think that's what city life is like: busy. Especially in a city in a country as complicated as Venezuela. The thing is that even though I don't see my friends as often, we always keep in touch to know if everything is ok.
