A simple thought

A window, the sun streaming through warming my body, a cup of tea and the kind of silence the seeps down into my soul was the perfect way to spend some of my day. I needed it, wanted it and was fortunate to find the time.

I took this image

I found myself in a simple, uncluttered room of neutral tones surrounded by the comfort that comes from the exposed grains of timber, sitting on a chair placed perfectly to take advantage of the sunlight watching the steam rise from my tea and how the light made those tiny particles glisten as they drifted upwards - A simple moment and I had simple thoughts: The present, falling into the moment, and little else because all I needed was right there in that room.

There I sat for an hour or more, the occasional bird came by to sit on the window sill and I watched it preen before it would flutter away and go back to doing whatever birds do - I loved the closeness I felt with nature in that moment, the way the bird was so close to me but oblivious to my presence and uncaring of anything but its own moment...it's how I felt about the rest of the world too; I was in it but apart at the same time.

In that moment I had a thought, a simple thought; I'd found a deep sense of comfort and happiness; simple thoughts.
