Introduction
Hello there! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
I'm here again for this week's Share Your Battle Challenge with the featured card: Dragons. For this battle, I have Quix the Devious and Chaos Dragon submitted for the featured card. I decided to cover this two because whenever I use a dragon monster, I also use a dragon summoner in the process so I think they deserved both love. Quix the Devious is a legendary summoner that cost 4- mana and gives -1 de- buffs on speed and range attack of the opponent cards while Chaos Dragon is a 14- mana cost magic card with the Sacttershot ability at level 1.
Before we proceed with the battle, let us explore more about this cards.

Quix had wandered the chaos realm for so long, he’d almost forgotten where his life had begun. Most of the memories only came to him in dreams now, flashes of images that were hard to connect and make any sense of. It was only when he came upon the Ravaged Void and rested by its black well that something stirred within him. It prompted a deep hunger for mana and he became obsessed with magic. Not only that, but the images he saw in his dreams became clearer and he witnessed great dragons. Some of them were native to the realm of chaos and some looked completely alien. Their nature appealed to him and demanded his attention, and so he remained by the void where over time his power grew, the vast emptiness filling him with potent energy.
At first he found that he could levitate and even consume fragments of time, taking it away from other beings and slowing them down. Soon after he realised the ability to interrupt projectiles inflight, as though an invisible hand had snatched them from the air. But what began to frustrate him was his capacity to summon. He could conjure up all manner of monsters and creatures from the ether but there was no elemental basis to any of them, and what he really wanted was to rouse the mighty dragon. The will of a dragon is strong though and try as he might, the task became impossible.
Quix flew into a terrible rage and destroyed the makeshift home he had made around the Ravaged Void. Enticed by the bright flashes of destructive power that he had cast, a void dragon came to him, curious and fascinated by his magic ability. However, the dark fury that had consumed Quix would not leave him and when the dragon came near, he set about it with his knives. Because it was only young and due to the power that emanated from him, he quickly over came it, killing the pitiful beast with no remorse. He didn’t stop there though, his anger demanding that he take a trophy from the being that refused to be summoned by his will alone. Cutting the fangs from its maw, he created a gruesome necklace. But his ire wasn’t sated though and so he gouged out its eyes, tasting some of the power that lay within.
He soon found that having crafted these talismans’, his capacity to summon was enhanced. He could now call forth the Void Dragon at will, the grisly totem amplifying his ability. With the realisation of this obscene turn in events, Quix set out immediately in a quest to gather as many tokens as possible from the dragons. Whether it meant raiding their nests, scavenging from corpses or killing them unawares, he didn’t care, and always managed to walk away with his prize.
Of course when the Chaos Rift was established and a doorway to the new world opened, Quix was eager to visit the Splinterlands and find new dragon trophies to add to his collection, expanding upon his already lethal repertoire of monsters.

Card Review
Quix the Devious is the latest Dragon summoner that was introduced to us by the Chaos Legion. It gives a -1 de-buff on the the speed and range damage of every monster of your opponent and because it is a dragon summoner, you can use it in combination of other elements as long as it was available in the rule set. Another good thing about this card is that it is a legendary card and while it cost higher compared to 1 BCX of the rest of the summoners in the Chaos Legion, it is already at bronze cap so you can use bronze cap monsters with this summoner. It is a good counter against the life team with the summoner General Sloan.
Chaos Dragon

| Mana Cost | 14 |
|---|---|
| Edition | Chaos Legion |
| Element | Dragon |
| Rarity | Legendary |
| Attack Type | Magic |
| Abilities | Flying, Scattershot Blast Blind |
| RF Burn Value | 500 DEC per BCX |
| GF Burn Value | 12500 DEC per BCX |
The Chaos Realm has preyed upon many a world, opening rifts in time and space to invade the lands and take from its people. When they attacked Praetoria and the Splinterlands, it was first thought that the minions were compelled through the portal for their fear of the dark shade that lurked beyond the gate, the shadowed image of Uul. Eventually though, when the last of the armies stepped through, there came such a prodigious monster that at first, none could believe it was real. A nightmare dragged forth into reality.
As it flew through the spinning vortex, the Chaos Dragon let forth a violent shriek, so loud that it was felt in the far reaches of every Splinter. The people of Praetoria fell to their knees, terror taking the strength from their legs and the courage from their hearts. For an army of monsters can be fought, the land defended with righteous fervor. But when even the invading hordes are fleeing before such a beast, what hope can there be? The answer is none when the eater of worlds has arrived, the true devourer of existence.
Surely such a thing couldn’t be the puppet of Uul? How could anyone command a creature that has flown from one cosmos to another, feeding upon alien planets? But it was his most potent being, one that existed before time had conceived the very gift of life itself.

Card Review
Prons
Has the Scattershot ability that ignores Taunt.
Magic damage can pass through most armor.
Can hit opponent regardless of their position
Good for Explosive Weaponry rule set.
Cons
Attack randomness can cause huge disadvantage at times instead on focus- firing to a single unit.
High mana card was difficult to put on low mana battles.
Chaos Dragon has a big cost of 14 mana so it is difficult to use on low mana battles but with it's huge mana cost also comes a huge health and decent armor to support it and since it is a magic monster, it can attack at any position. With Scattershot, there is no guarantee who it might hit but it also serves it's purpose as it ignores Taunt. It was not very fast but it has Flying which gives it 25% dodge chance and Blind which gives 15% chance for the opponent to miss it's target so when you combine it, this card has a total of 40% dodge chance. With the Blast ability it can deal damage to the monsters adjacent to its target.

Battle Phase

Due to the Target Practice ruleset, range and magic monsters will have the snipe ability that allows them to attack the closest non- melee monster to the first position. The exception are those with Sneak, Opportunity and Scattershot ability as their innate ability takes priority than the ruleset. I choose Quix the Devious because the other element that is available for the rule set is Life and the opponent might use a range team with General Sloan as a summoner and even if the opponent Dragon like me, he still will have the -1 speed de- buff that will make them slower Then I followed it with a line- up that is full of magic monsters which includes the Chaos Dragon at the back to also serve as back- line tank in case that the opponent uses a sneak team. The opponent on the other hand uses Daria Dragonscale for the summoner that gives +1 melee damage to all ally monsters with a line -up which is a mixture of different monster types but mostly dragon monsters so I guessed that he doesn't have a Life deck to go against me, We both have Strengthen which increases the health of all ally monsters by + 1 and Triage to restore damage from back- line attacks but the opponent also has Rust that removed some of my armor. I on the other hand has Demoralize which nullifies the effect of the opponent summoner.

Both line- up was still complete at the end of round 1 but but many monsters have their health in red. Because of Scattershot and Blast , I was able to deal damage to Manticore which redirects to Gloridax Guardian and Dragon Jumper then Doctor Blight shuts down the ability to heal of Gelatinous Cube. On the other handGold Dragon also deals Blast that targets Prismatic Energy and goes through Legionnaire Alvar and Djinn Renova

In round 2, Dragon Jumper defeated Adelade Brightwing. Chaos Dragon the attacks Gelatinous Cube this time that also damages Dragon Jumper and Scale Doctor then Djinn Renova deals the final blow to it then Doctor Blight this time shuts down the Heal of Gold Dragon.

At round 3, Dragon Jumper defeated Legionnaire Alvar, removing the -melee de- buff to all melee monsters of my opponent but it was attacked this time by Chaos Dragon that also damages Manticore and defeated Golden Dragon. Doctor Blight then use Affliction to Scale Doctor making it unable to use Triage to itself but it can still use it to heal other back- line monster.

In round 4, Dragon Jumper Gets to defeat Prismatic Energy but then Chaos Dragon attacks it again and defeats it together with Scale Doctor. After that, Doctor Blight gets to deal the final blow, Defeating Gloridax Guardian, leaving only Manticore on the opponent side but not until it gets to defeat Djinn Renova first.

Match ended at round 5 with Chaos Dragon dealing the final attack to Manticore with only 2 health remaining at that time.

Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at 3speak or in Splinterlands.

Did your Strategy Work?
Even if the opponent does not use range monsters as what I anticipated, the -1 Speed de- buff from Quix the Devious was still a big help as it slows the opponent then the Scattershot together with Blast blast damage allows me to deal multiple damage to the opponent.

Do You Like Quix the Devious/ Chaos Dragon?
As a summoner, Quix the Devious does not cost much mana like some of the other legendary Dragon summoners but it has 2 effects that can greatly affects the flow of the game and being a dragon summoner, it can be use together with other element. I can say that Chaos Dragon is my most favorite Dragon monster in the Chaos Legion because of the abilities that it possess but sometimes, it's huge mana cost has prevented me from using it.

What will you try differently next time?

While I really like Quix the Devious, I want to try to partner Chaos Dragon with Delwyn Dragonscale as the summoner because it gives +1 magic damage and if I use it together with other magic monster, like in water where there are lots of strong magic monsters such as Ruler of the Abyss, Djinn Oshannus, Phantom of the Sea and many more, when there is a high mana cap ruleset, this team will drop huge chunks of magic attack to my opponent.
But when it comes to range team opponent, Quix the Devious will always be my first summoner choice.

Final Thoughts
Dragon element gives more flexibility on the strategy and combinations that a player can choose when preparing their line-up. As a summoner, using Quix the Devious to slow down opponents alone gives a lot of impact to the result of the match. The -1 range is just a bonus when dealing with range monsters. Chaos Dragon is of course also a very good magic card and its ability to deal damage to multiple opponents increases the chance to win the battle.
