How to crush bronze with these EARTH cards

Hello everyone, last week I started playing Splinterlands again after I heard that the Terms were changed and bots aren't allowed anymore in the modern format. As I had to start with a rating of 0, I never played the modern format before, I had to climb my way up. After searching for information, which isn't always that easy to find, I found that some cards were really usefull for me to climb out of bronze.

As mentioned, finding this information wasn't always that easy, so I'll share those op cards with you guys. If you're already more experienced, than this guide probably won't help you, but I hope it could be some aid for newer, inexperienced players. In this article, I'll solely focus on the earth splinter, don't worry, in the future, I'll probably write about the other splinters aswell!

Summoners to rent

Obsidian

The chanches are that you already own this summoner, as he's a rare summoner from the Chaos Legion packs. But for those who don't own this one yet, he's definitly one which you'll have to rent. Ofcourse is the reasoning behind this very important. Well, he's rather cheap as he only costs 4mana and he gives +1 to magic damage, which is especially in the earth deck rather powerfull!

Back in the time when I started playing Splinterlands, Chaos Legion wasn't even there yet and Untamed was already sold out, this card was a prefered option for a lot of players, expecially in bronze. Because of the effect this summoner gives to each monster. Each monster gets the thorns effect, so if you got hit with a melee attack, you deal 2 physical damage to the damage dealer. In a lot of rulesets, this is quite powerfull!

Scarred Llama mage

As the previous summoner, this one was quite powerfull aswell. Although you see him less now, he still is very strong. Especially in the lower mana games and in combination with Kron the undying. If you don't know him, check out my next chapter about strong earth monsters. What makes the Scarred Llama mage so strong? If you would ask me, it's mainly his last stand, which powers up your last standing monster. Ofcourse the cleanse and the +2 health are very nice additions aswell!

Monsters to rent

Kron the undying

I've already spoken about Kron the undying. Why is he so nice? He can heal himself, as he has quite some health, this is very nice. All of this while also doing 3 magic damage which is insane. As said, if you combine him with Scarred Llama mage, than he'll be hard to kill, especially if it are low mana matches (eg. 17-20). He costs a few dec but is definitely worth it!

Unicorn mustang

This is another Untamed edition monster which is really helpfull. As I already talked about the summoner: Obsidian, I said that +1 magic for earth monsters is nice as there are quite some decent earth magic monsters. So Unicorn mustang is a decent way of counterplaying all those magic monsters as it has the void ability which reduces the damage from magic attacks by 50%.

Fungus fiend

This one is maybe a bit more surprising (or not) but I think it's a good card if you're focus on the Earth splinter. As you can see, he only costs 0 mana, yes, you can always add him if you didn't yet use the 6spaces for monsters. So it's always nice to use him as a meathshield so he can absorbe some damage.

Conclusion

I hope this guide about which cards to rent in the earth Splinter was helpfull for you guys! These cards don't costs too much dec to rent and helped me to climb out of bronze rather fast! Will soon try to write a guide about the other splinters aswell. Feel free to let me know in the comments if you would add some other cards aswell!

How did I begin to play Splinterlands?

It all began in December 2021, I was a bit bored and was looking for a new game to play on my laptop. After googling a bit, I saw the term play2earn in my google results. I didn't know it at that time but it seemed awesome, earning money while playing games instead of spending money on those games. Soon I learned that play2earn means that you can indeed earn some money to play the games. How does it work? While playing those games, you can earn NFT's of those games. These NFT's can be traded and sold for cryptocurrencies which could be swapped for fiat if you would like to. That's how I started.

Do you want to try out Splinterlands aswell?
