I CAN'T BELIEVE THE VEGGIES AIN'T VEGETATING

It's hard to believe that our garden is still spitting out LOADS of produce.

The middle of October is just around the corner. At least I think it is. ???????? Or, could it be that I'm retired and I don't give a dam about time, or is it the fact that this elderly gentleman is losing it? Okay, I just checked the calendar and it is October 8, 2022 2023, phew!

I'll explain the reason for all of the confusion.

#Mother #Nature has decided that she would bless this region here in Upstate New York with a couple more weeks of fabulous weather. That just doesn't happen in this neck of the woods!

This year we decided to try our hand at growing Banana Peppers.

Green Banana Peppers, I know they're supposed to be yellow. A few weeks ago we picked our first one. @farm-mom didn't believe they were banana Peppers. I think she said something like, "You must have read the package wrong when you bought them. They are going to be hotter than Hell." I knew what I had read on the seed pack and they sure as heck looked like Banana peppers. So, without any further ado, I picked one, ate it seeds and all, and just smiled. They were not only sweet but tender as well. They almost melted in your mouth.

If you're interested, I found this out about Banana Peppers.

banana peppers will eventually turn yellow and then red if allowed to fully ripen. Don't you just love learning something new?

A year like never before when we're talking peppers.

We did a second planting of green beans this year and here they are. How does this warm weathered veggie still have me breaking out the vacuum-sealer?

As much as I want to dislodge these tubers from the dirt, I've held back,

it's been rough.

Up to this point, I've only harvested three of them, one small and two that had to weigh a pound each, and that ain't no fish story.

This is the 1st time we've ever had the beets produce seeds, very cool to observe! With the cost of seeds these days, we're making a concerted effort to collect as many different seeds as possible. Future post.

These are the jumbos I was talking about, beautiful coloring. Just made these two quarts of pickled beets from those two bad boys, with lots of Vidalia onions.

This has been a morning ritual for the past three months. Not so much lately, just a few now and then. Any tomatoes still on the vine this time of year are unheard of.

What a rainbow of colors. This was a first, but it won't be the last!

As the Duke says, don't say too much.

One-word answers are right up my alley.
