MONOMAD - A beautiful place (3 photos)

The photos shows a monastery called Songzanlin Monastery located in Yunnan, close to Tibetan border. This monastery is the largest and most famous of the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Yunnan. In many ways it resembles the famous Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. That's why it's often named «Little Potala Palace». This monastry was built by the 5th Dalai Lama between 1679 and 1681. The style is traditional Tibetan. Once it housed more than 1.000 monks, but during the Cultural Revolution (1966 -76) it was almost destroyed.
