The photos are taken on the west coast of Mauritius. The mountain in the background is Le Morne Brabant, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, because of it's cultural and historical significance. Today Le Morne is a symbol of suffering an fight for freedom. In the 18th century the caves on the mountain was where many escaped slaves were hiding. One day they saw soldiers approaching. Because they thought they had come to arest them, the climbed to the top and jumpbed to their death. What they didn't know, was that slavery was abolished. A hike to the top will be in the footsteps of these slaves.
