This is the moat surrounding the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. Built sometime between 1406 and 1420 the city has been home to emperor. The whole area is enormous, containing more than 9000 rooms. The whole complex is surrounded by a moat with 4 entrances. One on each side. The photos were taken on the north side.
