As you leave Point Beach (as per yesterday's post), you are on Ushaka Beach at Africa's largest aquarium, Ushaka Marine World. (If you click this link it will take you directly to their website where you can watch an awesome video about Ushaka Marine World).
According to Wikipedia, Ushaka Marine World, a 16 hectare (40 acre) theme park has been built at a staggering cost of ZAR 700-million.
There are numerous activities to enjoy...from diving with the sharks to dolphin shows to having fun in the "Wet and Wild" fun park.
I took this photo at the entrance.
What caught my eye, is the two palm trees flanking the name board. Look at the awkward way they grow outwards and then reach up as if they want to frame the name board.
Standing a little further away, this is a typical scene on a relatively "quiet" day in this area.
We have paid a visit to the aquarium before, but it is once again on my "to do" list to get some photos inside the aquarium.
The next photo shows a part (the water slides) of the fun park from outside.
Next to the aquarium, there are numerous curio shops, surf shops, restaurants, etc...
There is no shortage of places to socialize here, as can be seen in the next photo too.
Turning around to the ocean, there is this nice little restaurant where we had breakfast one morning, right on the end of the pier. I think it's time we pay a visit again...lol.
Then I saw this cargo ship leaving the harbor. Standing on Ushaka Beach is still close to the entrance to the harbor, but this is actually the moment I was waiting for, standing at the very end of Point Beach, right next to the channel where the ships would pass me.
Anyhow, I took quite a few photos of this ship as it was quite impressive to see how such a big vessel is rolling from side to side when the waters are not so peaceful...
This was the first photo I took as I saw the ship coming out.
I then managed to find a better spot to take the photos from. But this is where I realized I need to start looking into video recordings as well because this would have been awesome on video.
In this photo, you can already see how the ship is rolling while moving in a straight line.
Settling back, moving in a straight line...
Then it started turning south...and I kept clicking...
After this, it started settling down and with a gentle roll, it started the journey towards the Eastern Cape.
Turning to my left, facing north, I got this photo, with some clouds starting to come in from over the ocean.
Walking up a little further north, I took this photo of the ocean, while still standing on the promenade.
The last photo is showing some activity on the beach.
And that's it for today, folks.
Thank you for reading my post. I do appreciate it!
